Waterlogged 240-HELP!burtonsnoman 02-09-2006, 08:48 PM I have a 89 240. I was driving and put it in the ditch, which was full of water. The car was leaning to the passenger side nose first (pretty tilted). I'm sure the distributor didn't get submerged or the air filter. Now it turns over fine but won't start. On the driver side fender well is a small relay switch that ticks now when the key is on. I was wondering if there is a fuel shut-off that may have enacted when the car was tilted. If so-does anyone know how to reset it? Any other suggestions or ideas? Thanks AWDSR20 02-09-2006, 11:52 PM did u getit out of the water? dry it sheck the feuzesss.... how is the batery?? Skylindrftr 02-10-2006, 12:25 AM yeah check the fuses, sometimes when you blow fuses you get that clicking sound... 240SXSlideStar 02-10-2006, 02:04 AM Sell it to someone who won't crash it? :dunno: nissan_240sx 02-10-2006, 04:43 AM leave the car to dry in the sun, check fuses, and to reset it disconnect the battery terminals for a few hours, good luck HotRodKid 02-10-2006, 05:03 AM how high did the water get ? did it start to flood the inside of the car ? the general rule is that anything forwad of the firewall is mostly waterproof , but anything inside the car is easliy ruined the best bet is to pull all the fuses, and get at anything that got wet and blow it out with compressed air if you can, or use a heater / hair dryer to remove as much water as possible Chuki_breath 02-10-2006, 06:34 PM anything in front of a firewall is water proof???? lol no. Some parts yes...but its a car, not a submarine. Its hard to tell. How deep was it submerged? I mean was the nose pretty much sunk or what? How big of a tilt also? I had my 240 tilted off a 4ft drop off....it started up fine.....was damaged lol but still was driveable. HotRodKid 02-10-2006, 07:09 PM like i said ... MOSTLY things outside the passanger compartment are not as easliy effected by water as say, your headunit, or the ECU under the dash and while clean water can get all over components and not cause damage (driving deep puddles in the rain, washing the engine bay with a hose) MUDDY water can very easily be a problem when it gets inbetween contacts and such Skylindrftr 02-11-2006, 02:46 AM When i blew a fuse when i accidently cross polarized shit was clicking when i tried to start the car afterwards and it stopped when i replaced the blown fuse so i dont know....bleh vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
