Ok so for the past few days ive been smelling a horrible gas smell. ive checked all my fuel lines nothin i dropped the tank nothin. I had a maxima and i read somewhere that the fuel injectors might be the cause to a similar symtom on a maxima. now any help at this moment will be highly appreciated. thanks in advance.

EDIT: sorry but its a 95 mercury villager.

check the fuel hoses at the injector rail when you first turn the key to pressurize the fuel system, dont start the engine. when cold they will often leak at the clamps. be sure to check both sides of the rail. another problem we,ve seen is the vent tube at the filler neck. there is a recall on these if you have'nt already had it done.

i checked the line and they werent loose. i also thought it might be the charcoal canister but its not. im all out of luck. ALSO noticed that if i really dont accelerate it a lot that it doesnt smell as much. when i start accelerating it the smell becomes more intense. i really need this solved so i can feel safe driving my van. thanks again
