on your rpo sticker in the glove compartment is there the g80 code, thats the code for a posi
also, sometimes you need to let go of the gas to get the posi to activate, that helps on mine in really slick conditions

I do have a posi, but 1 day while spinning in a mud pit I only had 1 rooster tail of mud flinging.
I couldn't believe that I actually had to put it into 4wd to get out :headshake
So the next day I changed the oil, and it started working again.

The G80 is not a posi unit, it is a locking diff, when one wheel spins at about 100 rpm more than the other a governor locks the unit up, .

Do you have to add any thing other than the gear oil if you have the G80 code when you change the oil out? Posi additive?

Lockers use standard gear lube and no additive.

Just make sure that you get the stuff that is okay for a complete fill. Some of it says "for top off only" in small print on the back.

My 85 requires an additave, but I can't speek for the newer units.
I didn't use a gasket, just high temp silicone. Next time I'm using both.
