My Mercedes SLK Finished! *PICS*

Yaaaay! I finally completed my 1:24 Tamiya Merceded SLK. Two summers ago, I began working on this model. I had done everything except finish painting the body and complete the last few steps, before I took a break from modeling. I got back into the hobby, and I completed the kit about two weeks ago. Please tell me what you think. Be gentle, it's my first time finishing a skill level 2 kit. I still haven't mastered the polishing techniques yet.

Oh yeah, I found this forum today. If I had found it earlier, I probably wouldn't have gotten out of the hobby.

Yeah, the rims are pretty huge. If they were real, they would probably be 22" or 23". That would be impossible to fit on that little car. I got the wheels from one of the revell slammer kits.

actually, It would fit, I saw 23's on a BMW z3(major fender work)

23's on a car...why...o dear why!?  ...and I thought a car with 19's was already pushing it...I can't imagine what that guy pays for tires!

dude? where do you live? 20+ rims are in now, my dads 56 chevy sits on bags and 19 up front, 22 in the rear.

My 68 mustang is gonna be 18x6 front, 18x8 rear

I live in the San Francisco area and a LARGE number of car enthusiasts sport aftermarket wheels... Never have I seen a _car_ with 23's...an _SUV_ like an Escalade or an Expedition yes. A car with 23's would just seem way too out of proportion. I already think 19's on a lot of the cars out there is too big, but I guess everyone is entitled to their own opinion huh? So what cars are 20"+ rims popular on? I haven't seen any in the Nissan community...I'm just kinda curious...I'm not a big fan of the import car shows with all the hondas/acuras. Maybe there? I think the biggest they could fit is 18's or 19's without work...

Can I see an example of a car with 22" or 23" rims?

You need to get those wheels inside the body lines then lower it as far as it well go....looks more like a "big-foot" :D

I really would like to lower the car, but I'm afraid it's not possible. It was hell getting them on, and I leave the brake discs in the box just so they could fit on (and I had them painted so nicely). If it wasn't for the miracle called superglue, I wouldn't have been able to use the wheels. I also ended up having to get another kit to replace broken parts.

Corvette GS- I used the lego street because couldn't really think of anything else. Before taking the pics, I took a picture of the car next to my silver pre-built Maisto SLK, with a very popular character posing next to the car. I'll post it up tomorrow.

Wow, I posted this on 6/9/2002, it's been almost exactly 6 months since then. I never expected anymore replies. Yeah, the wheels were to big, I guess I got a little obsessed with putting them on the car, after they wouldn't fit at first. Supratuner, do you really think the car looks that ugly? I know it looks a little abnormal, but I think if the same wheels were smaller, it would look much better. I guess everyone's entitled to their opinion.
