Super Bowl commercial for an energy drink, about half way through, yellow car with big black wing. Even though i like the commercial, I find that part kinda sucks.

drifting has reached a new low because a 240 was used for one second in a commercial? that seems slightly illogical

What I meant was that someone actually thought of using it, this time it's just for a second cause they don't know how many people will relate to it, but soon it will be 5 seconds, then 10 then there will be Formula D commercials during the super bowl.

i agree that drifting has not been what i expected in the us, in fact i hate it, therefore i dont go to formula d events...but sr20detpower does have some good points. The newcomers are always getting hated when they should probably be embraced and tolerated. I guess just ignore it if you dont like it. But, still, sr20detpower doesnt have the right to say what people should like or be 110% excited about, everyone has their own shit...

no offense slidestar, but SR does have a valid point here. I can honestly say that I was happy to see drifting in a commercial. Means it is slowly getting more main stream. I know theres those out there that like drifting, becuase they know more than others, and its "underground'ish" but if drifting goes more toward main stream, that just means that it will be easier to get events started in BFE, like here in South Dakota. Thanks to its publicity, we are having another Drift event here in SD later this year on 5-13! That makes me happy, as far as im concerned if people dont like drifting, or the fact that its going mainstream. fuck em', not like cops hating on imports is going to get any worse, besides were street racing is huge, so why not just enjoy the fact that Drifting is hopefully coming to a town near you.

mainstream drifting = more ricers, more dumb asses who think they can do it on mountain roads like initial d, more wrecks or innocents killed b/c of that which means cops cracking down on our types of cars, and for people with sr swaps that's bad news. And I beg to differ on the cops part, it can get worse, trust me....fuck mainstream and the media/hollywood,

I agree with Skylinedrfiter for different reasons.

The main reason is because all the mainstream event fail hard. D1 is a huge joke in terms of whos winning. Formula D is too skittish to educate the fans so people only cheer on a pass or a wreck. People don't know much about it and the further it progresses the more rediculous it will be come.

Formula D is cool in that its getting the drivers that need to be into D1 (which is a little more respectable). Its retarded in that its catering to retard mc jim bob pants and altering the judging system to where line, smoke and angle are taking a back seat to passes. It also sucks that to drift in the mainday you pretty much have to be seeded, which right now is pretty much the factory and tire sponser cars. Watch any sort of D1 video that some jerkoff fan boy didnt make and you'll see the privateers, those are the fun ones to watch.

The thing that pisses me off the most is the people that cockride Tsuchiya. Every video I have seen of that guy has been shitty. He doesn't even particularly drift well compared to anyone else, he's probably carrying more speed or whatever but his angle and smoke is usually lame balls.

Cool commercial. Can't hate on them for doing their research, they know what 240's are popular for. I'm sure most people that are some what into cars (imports) will know that too. How much will it affect 240s? None.

wow this thread is terrible. if drifting is to main stream and cops crack down on us fuck em drive in a legal manner u dont get in trouble or just be more selective about people u roll w/ and dont ride w/ stipid people keep you drift spots secret. its not a big deal as long as you arent stupid you will have no problems w/ cops. seriously just stop whining about it cause that commerical will have no effect on your life. drifting will become more popular i see it as a positive cause maybe when that happens i wont have to travel 6 hours if i want to go see a event

+1, but damn you really have to go 6 hours for drifting events? That sucks. Thats some 3rd world country shit, I would hope in America that you would be entitled at least that freedom. How close is, say, NASCAR?

Dude, most won't even relize it is a 240sx, and I don't think 2 second segment of a car drifting is enough to change the world. I got that shit over me, the fact that every ricer is now trying to get a 240sx and "drift it", its not the end of the world. There are lots of better RWD cars than 240, a lot on the same price category as well. So chilax man.

In the commercial is it stephan papakidis's 240? I know he had a yellow one but i though he crashed it...
btw im not throwing a tizzy fit over one little commercial, i just dont like how the us drifting scene went, when formula d first started i was all excited b/c i thought it would give the underdogs a chance to run and compete. But, now that its sponsored to hell etc whatever, like rw said they have almost no media coverage or chances...

In conclusion.

Formula D is traveling headlong down a path to retardation. Its trying to be D1 but D1 so really they've just outsourced pros when there should me much larger qualifying feilds and much less sponsership.

The good will get better while the Novices get shut out is what is happening.
