what exactly is double clutching - is it when ur racing drag lets say from 2nd to 3rd gear redlimiter is at 7000 u hit the clutch at 6500 and give a ltl gas get it up to 7 and then dump the clutch? is that right

In racing double clutching is a down shifting technique primairly used on cars with no syncors, or while doing multiple gear downshifts.

if u really wanna know what double clutching is, read this thread that was locked so it was stopped before flaming started. its a downshifting technique used to save cars gears, but now we have things called syncros...

what your talkin about is not stop pressing the gas peddle, let the revs bounce off the limiter and then shift. thats not any useful execpt u wwanna ruin your transmission a lot faster....

anyways, before noob and noob jr joined in with their oh so neede comments (joke, don't take offense) we WERE talking about something right.

Double cltuching is used on cars with no synchros or worn synchros. it's also used in racing to keep it smooth. when you race you want eveything to be smooth, sudden movements can cause you to lose traction and therefore time. when you double clutch and rev match you keep the downshift smooth and that allows you to get around a track faster. also check heel and toeing, it's ften used in combination with double clutching when you're braking.
