ok heres the deal, i pushed the button to change CDs in the 6-disc changer and then this code came up on the radio display, "CD00 ERR". i tried to fool around with it while driving, to no avail, so i pulled over to take the cassette out and try to put it back in. however, it wouldnt let me eject the cassette. a light is usually on to signify that there is power, but the light wasnt on. and no the CD was not in upside-down, because i know i listened to the CD before and i havent changed the CDs in a couple of weeks. anyway any help would be great. its a 96 changer, Delta CC.

how confident are you in that statement? its seems pretty rash. i question your advice because the music is coming in loud and clear right now. audi world had some info on it and it was a quick and easy fix, you slide a credit card under the cassette and it pops out and with a little bit of fooling around it works again. i hope not all VW mechanics make such quick, incorrect decisions on what to replace and not try to fix on their customers cars. if any of your customers are looking to save some cash, send them over my way. i can fix a cd changer with their credit card and save them $600 at the same time!

see I am a professional mechanic. I don't "jimmy parts" to get them to work for another 6 months. if the cd changers laser is damaged or bad, cleaning it will not fix the broken laser, it will only temporarily allow the broken laser to read a little bit better untill it just fails completely. Your cd changer is bad. wether you replace it now or in 6 months when it completely doesnt work at all is your choice. I am just trying to help.
ps. i have replaced MANY MANY cd changers, they normally only last 3-5 yrs. vw/audi just make poor decisions on what brand electronics they use

number one: a cd got stuck, nothing to do with a laser.
number two: following directions from the manufracturer, does not constitute "jimmy"-ing anything.
number three: $600 tomorrow is less than $600 today, thats the nature of inflation. so even if i jimmy it, ill save some cash.
anyway, sorry if i was rude, but the point is its fixed and if anyone has a problem with their changer (mine is the delta cc) its easier than you think to fix it. heres the tech article from audi world:

Mike,
I have had this same problem for 6 months now. Took it to a mechanic and got the replace-it-for-200bucks spiel. Was on the verge of ordering it from ebay, but then chanced upon this post, and boy am I glad I did. The card trick worked like a charm.
Thanks a ton dude, you rock!! :grinyes::iceslolan
