Hi
I have a 85 chevy caprice classic. I ahve been making this baby shine by putting alot of mods into it, new transmission and engine work and alot of accessories. I am wanting a glasspack muffler but not sure how it would sound does anyone have any ideas? dont know if a glasspack belongs on a caprice and does anyone know how to install it and if its easy or not.
Thanks
Zac

Glasspacks are cheap and bad. The prev. owner of my wagon had one on there and i took it off the first day i had it. If you just want sound get a flowmaster.

Don't use a glasspack or glasspacks. They are the most restrictive muffler you can get - they'll choke your engine and negate any power mods. Some people like the sound of glasspacks, I don't. Flowmasters sound much meatier.

It sounds counterintuitive that a glasspack is as restrictive as it is. You can see straight through, no bafflling or any obvious restrictions, but the problem is with the "cheesegrater" design of the internal pipe, with the holes into the surrounding fiberglass. This creates wicked bad turbulence in the exhaust flow, and turbulence = bad. It is this turbulence that makes the muffler work. It's a bad design.

learn something new everyday. :grinyes: I am putting generic flowmaster style mufflers on my ride soon, I don't care for the glasspack sound.
