swap in california?

hey i need to know if jdm engines are legal in cali??.....alot of people have been telling me no and i just wanna make sure.....i was thinking of getting either a zc or a b16 in my crx but i wanna know if it will be legal and if it will pass smog

depending on the engine, some or most should pass the smog test. passing smog test or not, it's illegal in california. you may get away with smog check, but the visual state ref inspection you won't get away with. be on the safe side and get a USDM motor.
