95 gt early morning stumblejohnny ro 01-31-2006, 09:47 PM Newphews nice new looking clean 100k 1995 GT only does this first thing in cold Albany winter mornings for last month. Driven periodically through day, on an off with no reported symptoms after getting good and warm once. Starts right up, he warms it up 10-20 seconds, eases into gear, steps on gas, it stumbles and tries to die while rolling. Let off gas, she goes back to idle ok. Try again and it goes ok. It can stumble again, or get up to speed then stumble, let off gas, step on gas it goes a ways before stumbling again. This is on and off until fully warmed up, 10-15 minutes. Then OK till next morning. Clue- replacement coolant recovery tank is in trunk, needs to be installed, original is cracked on bottom and dry inside. Coolant is reported to be full in radiator (told him to check it warm with engine running and coolant circulating) but was prob low at one point, gets topped up every few days. Might it be a bubble in an intake heater line if this car has one? Heater works fine in car after I explained him to look for a disconnected cable to the air mixing box which he had apparently knocked off when running stereo wires. He found his missing license at that moment in time too. Told him to go ahead and warm it up in driveway before driving till we figure this out. Fear it will get worse. Will have a 4 hour saturday window to visit him and diagnose/fix. Clue- nephew is not a car person and this description is prob 75% accurate. Prob shouldnt have mentioned this item to you all. Clue- he did a horrible rookie job installing a horrible POS triple 12" sub box with two 1000 watt amps, with bad grounds and loose speaker connections all around inside and outside of sub box, just before losing his alternator 3 months ago. I fixed speaker wiring and it then played properly, dont think the stereo caused the alternator or running problem. Alternator held up since and it only stumbles cold. Will check every intake and vacuum air and water line in the front of the car. Seeking other suggestions. I might have to call click and clack on this one. Newphew is actually a pretty good guy just his dad never showed him anything. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
