yea the cars fast...im running strictly just off the wastegate right now at 15psi (low boost) and theres no traction at 50% throttle in 1st 2nd and part of 3rd gear...yea...i went 100% throttle at 60mph in 3rd gear and had no traction...im scared to turn up the boost  ok maybe not...mwwahahahaha will have videos up within a week or so of some acceleration pulls :D

BTW sorry about the smudges. After about 5 pictures i noticed it was there. Notice the smudge dissappears...lol.

the WB is sold, but i sold it to my best friend...so its still around...and i've been driving the WB until my new car got here...the bonus of selling it to my best friend...plus keeping the kouki's and my drift rims.

what is the small thing right above the climate controls? Turbo timer?

That thing is gonna be pretty cool.

You got to get rid of that wastegate dump in the front bumper though. Thats so trashy considering what the pipe has to do to get up there.

im keeping th WG dump there...i like it...and yes that is the turbo timer above the temp controls. Tomorrow i'll be ordering my KTS coils also...since the car has finally F'ing got here..

i know its hard to compare but how does this built ka-t compare to your stock SR? like power delivery wise, driveability wise etc etc.

i know its hard to compare but how does this built ka-t compare to your stock SR? like power delivery wise, driveability wise etc etc.

well i've only had the car a few days, and have had only little time to flog it, but here goes my SR vs KA-T opinion (i dont want feedback on...sr's are better ect...this is by my experiences...so just STFU and take it)

but as far as power delivery itself, KA-T tons of torque down low...as i mentioned seem like i have no traction until top of 3rd and 4th gear. To where the SR seemed no not be nearly as torque'y and seem to shine alittle better top end. Driveability wise, my SR seemed alittle nicer, but this KA still has a few bugs to work out, then once worked out, i think that this car will be sick as hell. As far as performance wise, the SR seems to wrap out alot better/ more effortlessly. Not saying the KA-T doesnt rap out easy, becuase it seems to enjoy it there, when accelerating it seems like it would hurt the motor to keep it there a while, to were as my SR i didnt see to feel that way. Im not sure how a KA-T sounds turbo'd with a good exhuast, but right now my KA-T has no exhaust...it stops under my seat...lol (getting GT Spec in a month or so) so it sounds quite ricey right now. my SR (since it had a GT spec) sounded nice as hell, low tone..ect.

All in all i think the KA-T will be as good driveablity wise once i get the bugs work out (which i have yet to pin point) And has power at what seems like the right places...so far im sold on my KA-T...then again my SR wasnt built at all, and my KA-T is fully built, with a t3/t4 turbo...so of course it will be faster...but i love the torque, and thats what gots me sold

what hiccups do you seem to be having with your ka-t? but yeah our engines does feel very thrashy up at the upper rpm's. i'm afraid to leave it at 5K rpm for too long if i was racing from a roll.

Man, driving a car open downpipe like that blows. Thats probably whats making you feel like its gonna come apart at high RPM. Open Downpipe does that... I remember I wouldnt take my car over 5k when I didnt have an exhaust because it felt like everything was gonna break.

Anyway... I think that thing is gonna be pretty fresh once some of the kinks are sorted out. but please god ditch the wastegate thing... Or move it to the behind the wheel... behind the wheel would be fair enough..

01-30-2006, 09:00 PM
lol...man RW your obsessed with the WG thing...lol. and yea it probably could be becuase i dont have an exhaust on it right now...

TatII the problem im having right now is, at around 3.5 - 4k rpm the hard breaks up. tomorrow, if its not snowing and shit, im going to check all the piping for a boost leak, and the spark plug gaps, ect...im thinking its not the plugs though, becuase it runs perfect at WOT...so we'll see...i checked some post on KA-T.org about the same problem, and one guy said his problem was the wastegate dump tube? but i dont think thats the issue

driftking777
01-30-2006, 09:01 PM
BTW...also if its nice tomorrow (roads are dry) i will make a vid...one of a WOT run, and one run of the problem im having under 15-50% throttle...btw...same problem, but different situation...in 5th gear at 3k rpm, if i floor it, or accel it breaks up also...this happens most prominent in 5th and 4th gear.

on the vid you should easily be able to hear it break up...and on the WOT run you should be able to hear how loud the car is with open exhaust...lol

totally agree.... my sr is sooo silky smooth when reving high..

sounds like a what i was going thru for the last 2 weeks. but mine would run really lean like 20:1 lean at 2-3K rpm, but it would boost fine under WOT. i was talkin to nissanfanatic and i checked my injector pulse width when its running lean, and the PW stayed constant. which means its a igniton miss thats making me run lean, not lack of fuel. after more investigating guess what was my problem?

it was one of my plug wires that was loose on the distributor side. it was still on, but it wasn't plugged it, and current had to jump that hugh arch. if it wasn't for the apexi multi checker, i would've kept on thinkin it was fuel related, cause it doesn't miss at WOT even at 15 psi.

so yeah good luck to you.

you know I drive a lot of different cars, I think the KA is pretty rev happy, hell the god damn thing redlines at 7k rpm.... The fact that Nissan rated the engine for that says a lot. It might not be a B16, but considering the other 90% of cars out there, it does pretty good. Mine always revs out nice

im not saying the KA isnt good to rev...if you've driven an SR you would know that the SR seems to stay at high RPMs more effortlessly...

And TatII im guessing that its ignition related, im going to take the plugs out and check the gap, and gap them to .25 since im running 15psi on low boost.

i checked a few of the plug wires, but i have yet to check all of them...i'll also be checking for some boost leaks...just in case

if i have the same gear ratio in my 240, and have an SR, and then a KA, whats the difference in ratio then?

Man, if I didn't spend so much time on the highway I would be all over a 4.30 ring gear. But 3500rpm at 70 ain't too fresh.

What is the stock 90 240sx final drive (open diff), i was wondering this b/c i have a sr redtop 5spd trans and the stock rear end and im at 60mph at redline in 2nd gear...

hahaha, you mean your speedo says your going 70. With a 3.9 and those monster sidewall tires your prolly doing like 77-80.

Thats what stock gearing does. 70 at 3000

What size tires does he have in the back?

driftking777
02-01-2006, 09:29 AM
255/40...yea tire size owns me...lol

240SXSlideStar
02-01-2006, 12:34 PM
25.03 inches is the overall size of those tires, the overall size of 205/60 tires is 24.69 inches, it's 1.014% difference. So when he is at 70, it shows 69.02, no big difference.

R.W.240
02-02-2006, 02:00 AM
yeah, The difference is in the gear. 3.9 will be about 2600-2700 at 70.

4.3 is about 3500-3600.

driftking777
02-02-2006, 01:54 PM
