i want to make my s14 fast! but i need to know how much the total job is going to cost and is it even worth putting a sr20det rather then the turbo kit? ive checked some tuner shops here in denver and they want $2500 for labor. is that reasonable? or have any of you guys gotten it cheaper?... thanks

There's a place in Va that does it for 2500 or so I'm trying to find the link now.

 why so expensive out there?
There is a shop about 25 miles or so from me who does the SR20 install for 1650. Also www.unstable-hybrids.com located in atlanta georgia charges only 1300 for labor charges. look at the table I took from their site.

that's pretty pricey. i know swapping a RWD is harder than a FWD but that price is high. you can do it yourself if you have enough mechanic knowledge. I'm planning to do my own swap in my own sileighty and then help my bro drop another sr20det into his s13.

i dont know why its so much $ to do the swap here. i wish i could do it myself, what are the difficulties of doing the swap? i heard something about the wiring harness.

The swap is actually not the difficult. If you have some knowledge about engines, then go buy a factory manual and you can use your knowledge as well as the manual to help you. I would recommend getting a few friends to help with the swap just to make things go a little faster and sometimes when you need more than 1 person to do something, they will be there. The thing with the wiring harness is that since the harness is coming from a RHD car and going into a LHD car, some of the wires may not be the right length and they may not reach to the connectors. Also the connecters on the harness will have the wires in a different place than the wires in the connectors on the car. There is a little pin removal tool that you can get and you can just move the wires around in the connector so that they match up (red to red, black to black, blue to blue, etc.......). There are companies that will convert the harness for you by making all the wires in the connectors in the right place and they will lengthen or shorten the wires that need to be changed. www.srswap.com will convert the harness for a small fee.

Is there a website that explains in detail on how to do swaps??? If not , that would be a really good idea
