Last night I had some really good runs with my buddy's Cobalt SS S/C. I still haven't gotten on the dyno to tune my power fc.. so my top end still sucks lol. We're going to race again after I go to the dyno.

We did four runs.. 2 1st gear 30mph rolls, a 45mhp roll, and a 50 mph roll.

damn dude your vvti screams...........nice kill on the lower rolls but it seems to me that on the higher rolls the cobalt seems to get you........you must be in his good side of his power band........but I bet if you guys went from a dig it would be all you.........good kill........thats a good race for you cause your in the mid 14s and the cobalts are in mid 14s..........nice....

My 60' was 2.1.

14.5 @ 95mph.. with stripped interior and all my mods. I got 14.7 @ 95mph stock with full interior.. as you can see, my tune SUCKS on top end (trapping same mph as stock) With stripped interior I should be running High 13's @ 100-101mph with a good tune on the Power FC.

high 13s is a nice street speed....

Good runs. Looks like the lower mph rolls goes in your cars favor, but anything above 45 mph puts the Cobalt SS better aligned with its power.

if u look a few pages back, vip told us how he achieved 14.7, i believe he went to the tracks like 100 times or something, and he really knew the car. But, they are high 14s if driven right

damn that GTS sounds really nice, i'm really lovin your car vip09. and ricer, the reason why you can't hear the SC on the cobalt is because the GTS is just too damn loud.

and it doesnt have that drop in filter for the added sound.........lol

The All-trac weighs a lot more than 2400-2500 pounds. Try 3000-3100 pounds.

I'd also like to add something to that. Even though the SS lost on the lower end, I'm fairly happy with how the SS performed. Think about it, it's lightly modded against a very light sport compact that's got a stout engine and some good modding done(although a tune couldnt hurt at all.) Was there a passenger in your car as well to even the weight out a bit Vip? Oh yeah, is your car still stripped??? I hope not, that's a bit uncomfy for the street, heh.

Admittedly I am not an import freak but I still appreciate a fine running car of any type. Would be very interesting after you get the tuning dialed in.

I like the ARP bolts on the rods, definitely top of the line. My only question is why not on the mains too? Would make that bottom end more bulletproof unless ARP doesn't make main bolts for it yet.

Yeah, all he had on his car was an Injen intake... it was pretty :) . I could hear the s/c whine when he was beside me.. but I guess the camera didn't pick it up because of where it was located. I'm sure if the cameraman was in my car you would have been able to hear it. Yeah, he's a member at cobaltss.net.

Well right now, I only have 2 real mods done to the car. Just the CAI and the Power FC. My exhaust is cut off right now just after the resonator.. that's why it's so loud. I have the rear hatch plastics and rear seats taken out still from when I went to the track (the hatch plastics and seats weigh next to nothing).. so yeah I've been kind of lazy about putting them back in lol. But I did have the turbo from my alltrac sitting in the back which weighs more than twice the weight of the back seats and hatch plastics.. that thing is heavy! So it was kind of balanced out. No, there wasn't a passenger in my car. Because of the lack of torque in my car, when I add a passenger it's like running on 3 cylinders lol.. you can feel the difference. We agreed to have the cameraman in his car because of his hp and huge torque advantage.. and the fact that his car is faster than mine stock for stock anyway. But we shall run again... and next time we'll switch passengers just to see what happens... I'm sure I would have gotten slaughtered with a passenger.

Gotta have a car that can somewhat keep up with the two racing though, if the camera car falls too far back, 3rd person camera views are a bit crappy.

Camera car always has to be the faster of the two cars racing... it's got to be able to at least stay with the action fairly easy to keep it interesting.

you could sell candy seriously. that what i do with cds as well. i used to be in the drugs, but now im not...got a real job. i still do the candy and cds tho. 2bucks for a regular, 3 for mix, 6 for mp3 disc. get a box of candy from sams club, like 18bucks, 36 come in it and sell for a dollar each. i get like 60 bucks a day from candy and about 50 a week from cds....get into your own buisness, but just dont use P2P for the cds, there are nbew things called torrents(if u wanna call them new)

Unless you think there is something wrong with the hose or the clamp your probably going to have to take it apart and make shore it’s perfectly clean to stop the leaking.

if you really have that big of a boost leak, have someone follow you from behind and floor it in front of them. ask them if they see alot of black smoke coming out of your tailpipe constanly under boost. for you to loose 6 psi is a hell of a big boost leak. does your turbo sound like its working harder? check your compressor wheel for damages.

I love a good turbo setup, but this is one reason I am glad that GM went with the Eaton on the SS. Turbos can turn into a maintainance nightmare. Hose clamps, pipes, tubes, all going every which way and any of them can cause leaks and loss of power. Blowers may not be as efficient at making power, but damn if they arent reliable.

^^^^^ nooooooo dont you ever say that.....I would do no such thing to my lovable hard candy........lol...........I fixed most of the leaks today....I found out I had a shit load of small leaks equivalent to a giant leak.......a couple of the big ones were at the coldside pipe connecting to the throttle body.....then I had some on my hotside pipe........and a lot of vac lines I forgot to tighten............but now I think my BOV is leaking have to check that..........

^^ There are some 20k cars that are good. price doesn't always dictate quality. It's a cheaper car because it's Domestic, was built on an existing platform, has little appearance changes from a regular neon and of course it's built off of an econo-car, making the production price lower to begin with.

the reason why they seem notorious for boost leaks/vacuum leak is because none of the owners leave the car stock........their always messin with stuff and not finishing it.......but out of all the people I know that has an srt I am the only one with the leaks........

so anybody what dodge plans to do to replace the neon (and more importantly the SRT-4)? THe chalenger will be out soon but that can hardly be called a replacement for the skittle.

Its called the Caliber. Pretty fucking ugly, and its like a cute ute of some sorts. The Challenger on the other hand...I'd buy one of those in a heart beat they are so fucking sexy.

u might tell him to reconsider boosting the gt-s from what i've seen from a couple of my buddies celicas the engine blows really soon when put under boost like that plus ive heard those engines arent made to handle boost either. one of my friends supercharged his and it blew about 40k miles and another friend of mine put a turbo on his and the vvt-i was never right again and he actually turned slower times

Hass Autoworks is making 325whp on a stock 2zz motor in an MR2 spyder that's daily driven. They can handle it fine, but you better know how to tune or it's going to blow up just like any other engine would if it was pushed near its limits on a mediocre tune.

Nope. We just polished it up the best we could, masked off the letters and such, then painted it with high temp engine paint. Ford Red LOL.
