I thought that my car could use a lil update.

About three weeks ago, I installed a Griffin radiator. That has went well. Cooling temps are definatly lower. No water temp gauge, but damn if it doesn't take 10min+ to warm up... The only new parts for that swap were the radiator, silicone couplers, and a piece of 1.5" aluminum pipe. I used the stock AC fan wired to run constant and the stock clutch fan. Definately made a difference!

I have also installed Pilot F&R STBs. Slight difference in body roll reduction. Other than that, nothing orgasmic about them.

I have been daily driving the car as always at no less than 14psi to work, out on dates with the GF, random and senseless driving in attempts to find anything fast to race, grocery getting, ect ect. Biggest problem as of yet is spark blowing out. MSD is on the way. Every so often, esp on cold nights, I will blow out spark at 14-15psi. I ordered iridium NGKs and installed at a .028" gap and still no dice. It is terrible at like 17-18psi. Positive that it is spark miss because the night I tried to boost 18psi, it missed like a fat guy trying to hit a slim fast, but at 14psi, its pretty much fine.

I now have 5 gallons of 100 octane sitting in my garage. I'm going to go for 400whp at about 20psi sometime before April 10th when I leave for the Navy. I figure that if I won't be needing my car much after I'm in the Navy that I can at least use it for the good of the KA community and join the other few poineers of pushing the stock block KA. I'll prolly just do slight street tuning at 20psi, then straight to the dyno I go. Yea, it might be a dyno queen, but you know what? The dyno queen club is open to everyone!

Anyways, thats what has been going on with my car...

LoL

Its a universal Griffin radiator. But it is more oriented for a SR. Either way, now its a supra style KA radiator.lol

i love the car. 400whp would be sick on stock block. That is total sleeper also, most street cars around here would try to run you, and then get killed unbelievably bad. Nice setup!

i wouldnt call it a sleeper w/ that big ass front mount there for all to see

well if you pulled up beside someone, they sure wouldnt see the front of it. But yeah, if i did see a frount mount on a stock looking car, i would know somethings up lol

it may be more low profile but hardly a sleeper. i consider a sleeper a car that is all round stock looking like even under the hood you dont se anything special goin on

lol, i wish!

And fanatic, arent you gonna get some coilovers and rims/tires to do some autocross? You definitly need a limited slip and wider tires to get some traction!

driftking777
01-30-2006, 04:18 PM
wider tires mean nothing at this power level...i now realize...im running 255/40's in the rear...and at 330whp im roasting them up to 4th gear...

TatII
01-30-2006, 04:29 PM
thats weird that you guys can't get traction. would 30 more whp make that much of a difference? i'm making 303whp and i don't even spin second. i only spin the upper half of first and thats it. then i see you guys spinning 4th lol

so it is a good and bad thing that i have a laggy turbo.

Shit tires.

On some beat 245/40s I could spin third somedays on 7lb SR... yeah... that bad.

712s are seriously the worst tires on the planet. Get some MXs and a diff and you won't spin nearly as much.

haha you think the supra 712's are bad? i had MX's but i needed something all seasons so i got the escta ASX's and even on those i don't spin then in 2nd unless its very dusty or cold outside. i'm pretty sure the 712's are grippier then the ASX's.

I make 330ft/lbs of torque as well. And it stays up there in the 300+ft/lbs range. Post up some graphs guys. 300whp, 330whp, not very important in the wheelspin department.

I won't spin third unless I'm doing 15psi+. And when I boost that much, I can press the gas at 60mph and the ass end will go in the other lane. On cold days at 14psi, I'll hear a lil screetch all the way from 60mph to 85mph, but that isn't what I consider wheelspin because I still accelerate very well...

And according to Car and Driver, the MXs aren't that great.. http://www.caranddriver.com/article.asp?section_id=4&article_id=10252

With all do respect, that is probably what I would get regardless because I liked how the car I rode in that was equipped with MXs drove. NO wheelspin. Not even in first gear. Esp not after they get a lil heat in them.

where exactly did you buy your radiator from fanatic?

Sans my rich vette friend that shits on everything not hoosiers, everything I've heard about the MXs says they're the best tire for the money. (Last I checked like 160per I think). Obviously the A048s and RT615s would be better but those are big money tires

I hate the 712s. those things don't grip for crap. At least with the 711s you can justify them by saying they last forever and handle heat well but the 712 will take a shit after the first burnout and chunks like a bitch.

A baller ass tire is the Falken ST115. I have it on the front with around 3.5 camber and 6000miles and 2 drift events later its still not showing camber wear.

this is on 24psi though...even though this is on the old tune...so should be slightly higher, guessing 400whp or so so im guess at 15psi im putting down what fanatic is..

full boost at around 3700rpm, and peak torque at around 4.5k rpm
