was wondering if anyone had sound clips of performance exhausts on a 4.0? i did find one for gibson but was looking for clips of maybe flowmaster, dynomax, etc. please tell weither u have single or dual exit. i may be buying my grandfathers 95 b4000 in the near future and would obviously upgrade the exhaust (would also like recomendations as to what type would give a deep v8 like sound but still flow good) thanks in advance.

I Have a 94 Ranger 4.0 with flowmaster single inlet dual outlet striaght out the back with 2 1/2 inch tips, sounds great! thought it was an 8cyl running when they started it in the shop, and did seem to add a few hp.

i had another ?: is there a performance/economy difference between single cat backs and single inlet/dual (out the back) outlet cat backs?
also, is a dual outlet cat back louder than a single?
how much would it cost to have a dual outlet system made (say a dual outlet flowmaster) and what size pipe is best?

Here:

Best pipe size for a stock motor is stock pipe size. Back pressure is very important. Read the link above - has a few examples of what mufflers flow well. I've heard from a lot of 3.0L people that the flow masters flow like syrup. My dual outlet super turbo Dynomax is loud, I haven't had much experience using Flow Master to compare. A v6 will never sound like a V8, but you can make it sound extremely mean.

I paid:
$180 for new pace setter headers
$200 for Muffler and piping
$50 for test pipe to remove catalytic converter
$40 new o2 sensor

Install was free, I have a brother who's a decent welder.

i own a 4.0 liter ranger with a single in dual exit flowmaster exhaust, it sounds great, i have to find the clip of my truck. the entire system (pipes, exhaust, hangers and tips) cost me about 175 shipped to my front door, i love the way it sounds, gets better gas mileage and adds horse power, definately go with a flowmaster. (mines a 40 series origional)
