'04 SRT-4 V.S. '96 Mustang GT

well this guy i know had been talkin a lot of trash sayin that NO fwd 4cyl could beat his V8 gt ( he doesnt know a lot about cars) and he finally brought his car to another friends of mines house where i had my srt and he challenged me to a raced approx. a 1/4 street race from a dead stop. So we lined up and (idk how many people have driven a modded srt but it bein fwd it has a lot of torque steer and spins a lot unless u hit it perfectly) both got equal jumps off the line, we both spun but he hooked up faster than me and was about a 1/2 car ahead before i hooked up, when i hit second i started pulling hard on him then third i completely left him. i didnt think much of it because he didnt have anything done to it other than an exhaust and a chip or so he claims. but that finally put an end to the trash talk and now everytime he see's me he asks about my car.. cuz i just he thinks its extremely fast or sumn. haha

My car: '04 st. 2 srt4 @ 17 psi to redline

I've beaten an SRT-4 and I doubt I would beat a Mustang GT by much more...so I doubt they "eat them for breakfast" - rather, they "beat" them. What exactly is done to your SRT-4? Good kill.

I didnt mean the new ones bro, the ones up to 2004 are its natural prey. (excluding driver tallent of course)

nice kill dude but you have a s2 car so Im not suprised with the results.....if he had some bolt ons it would have been a better match.....stock for stock the skittles gets the gts majority of the time but with a good driver its a drivers race........as for the retro gts those things are fast.........they usually take skittles by fourth gear on a roll stock for stock.......but from digs most gts poop on us.........then a couple of gears later we poop on them.....hehe

oh I just notice you raced a 96'' gt............yeah dude you could have handed it to him stock.........now the 99-2004 are closer to us and the 05s are faster then us...........

The 99+ GT's are good for high 13's stock and a SRT-4 is probably good for like a low 14. Ive seen a automatice 98 GT which is faster i think than the 96s run a mid 15 second pass.

nice kill, but that was to be expected. My friend had a 98GT and after many many runs, I think he managed a 14.9 or 15 flat...not exactly impressive for a 4.6L 8 cylinder...

idk about that, the 99-04's can be decent, some years a lil better than others. I guess if you're talking stock than the SRT would get it but if the mustang had any kinda mods goin on it would give the srt a good run... bow down to the 05 GT's haha can;t wait to see a cobra...

mostly the 99+ will get low 14's. Good srt-4 can get high 13's

^ if you hurry you can still find some new ones (2005 was the last production year) for 21K. used i ve seen from 8K to 21K. I have my eye on a few 16-17K round here but im holding out till May.

dude you definately need to get back in the game........I mean the sl is cool and all but as a former owner you know the potential of the skittle.....so I really dont need to say much but to get one again and try not to wreck it please.......:iceslolan .........as far as finding one its going to be tough cause the last time I checked for one they were pretty much gone like the wind.....

a good 99+mustang gt can run high 13's too on a good day. there pretty even. but for the 96 gt, not even a competition.

Ive seen a 99 GT run mid 13's with 3.73s and some boltons.

best i've seen with my own 2 is a 14.0
but its known to have hit the 13's before. if dampachi can pull off a 14.1 just think what a very skilled driver can do with it.

yeah I wouldnt doubt that a 99 and up gt could hit high 13s stock its very possible........I had a few run ins with a couple of 04 gts and they hung until the end of third and the begining of fourth but by that time it was past a quarter mile...........

4.10s yield lower et's but on the highway not so good. And if you plan on using a blower or turbo then use a 3.55.

i read, nice kill on the stang, but the rx-7 was sorta unclear on if you actaully won or he let off. those puppys are nasty up top, really nasty! but nonetheless doesnt mean you couldnt have taken him up to a certain point.

Cobras come with 3.55s so i wouldnt go any higher than that on a cobra, but 4.10s would be fine cause they can turn more revs. Not sure bout an LS1 though.

if you had 4.10s on a cobra id think youd have a real hard time getting traction, 3.55s fit that car just fine.

problem with 4.10s, if this matters to you, is that they will decimate your highway mpg. 3.73s are a nice size for most cars. if you have 400hp tho its probably not necessary

mustang56, question, have you bumped your rev limiter up any? j/w cause i know they can make good power past what its set at. if so did you put heavier springs and whatnot on it?

yeah when I raced the 93 rx7 TT...........I didnt expect what was going to happen cause I have never raced one before.........I was thinking he was going to beat me but he didnt.........we raced three times twice from a roll and once from a dig.............two cars from the roll till third and three cars form the dig............I had a really good lauch on the dig.......I got to talk to the guy and he said I really didnt want to race you cause I knew you were going to beat me..........and I was like WTF.......I told him but you have two turbos and he said but they are small and old..........I said mines only a 14g...
and he says my car is a 93.........I was still real happy about the win.......

well its black and its got the st. 2 upgrades which include, bov, wastegate, larger injectors, ecu, cooling fan switch (so i can turn it on when i want) 100+ octane button, intercooler sprayers, and a dial boost ( which i can switch from 0 - 3 with zero not boosting at all. and i have put on very few things cuz i havent owned it long, just a CAI, turbo timer and 18" (black w/ chrome lip) enkei wheels, i have a pic of it on my comp. but i dont know how to put pics on here. however i am changing the wheels to bronze eventually

i actually had somewhat of a race with an '05 gt the day i got the car at a red light... and it beat me pretty bad off the start even though we both spun, but third gear i pulled on him pretty strong and passed him but even though we both slowed down right around the time i passed him i dont know if he let off first, but i know i was pulling on him hard enough when he was tryin to beat him on the track (1/4 mi.)

Dude I got the 3000GT cause I needed a car quick after the SRT-4. hey for a 5K dollar car its been really good to me. Actually youd be surprised how many SRT-4s are up for sale around here. I have 13 withing 25 miles under 19K, 7 of them still have factory warranty.
Im holding out though cause since I finished paying off the 3KGT I am saving up sooo much money! I didnt even bank this much back when I was still with the cartel!
And I got a little something brewing thats gonna blow the doors off alot of quick cars, all in due time I guess.
Besides dude if Im this popular with a 15sec car can you imagine if I was actually quick? :evillol:
no no, I gotta let my wingmen have some fun too, cant hug the spotlight all the time. I think I should take a break, take the season off and let Drifty and Gotian get some glory time. I'll be stealling hearts again come June. :naughty:
