Psychopete 01-26-2006, 01:04 PM how hard would it be to drop a v8 in it. what year interchange with it. Interchange? The 92 Ranger never came with a V8. You won't want to put anything any bigger than a 5.0L in. It won't be street legal with anything bigger. I reccomend getting a 5.0L H.O. What transmission were you planning on using? They make adapters, but it's more cost effective and more logical to use a strait up V8 transmission. AOD will probably cause the cab to need cut a bit to make room. I hear the C4 fits, but it's a 3 speed. The advantage w/ the C4 is that it's not electronic. The World Class T5 is mechanical clutch, so you will need to do some fabrication going that route. You will need 5.0L custom Ranger headers, 5.0L motor mounts, special oil pan, ECC-IV, drive shaft, painless wiring harness.. The list just goes on, and on. Best upgrade for big tires is a new rear-end gearing ratio. There's also some performance upgrades for the 4.0L, but I never experimented with that perticular engine. Pete Crasen 01-27-2006, 12:41 AM I would advise you to check any local laws regarding emmissions. Some states have rather strict laws and depending on what state you live in you could very well could go through the hassle of installing a V8 in it just to have it fail inspection because that engine was never an option in the truck from the factory, or perhaps you live in a state that you could put anything you want in it and run whatever kind of exhaust you wanton it.
