'88 325 glove box will not unlatch.berkbw 01-25-2006, 07:09 AM I can not open the glove/map box in the dash, both keys turn as if there were nothing attached [1 turns further than the other], and the handle lifts with no effort. How do I take all this apart to repair it? thanks b-\ OKCSuburban 01-26-2006, 02:10 PM Sorry to hear you are having problems, I am not sure but I might be inclined to try realoem dot com and see if I could get an exploded view of the parts involved. Does the dealer have part views? Good Luck berkbw 01-27-2006, 08:38 AM The parts page didn't quite do it for me, but what a *nice* link, thank you. b- Domingues 01-28-2006, 07:52 AM force it open, sledge hammers, chisels, double barrel shotgun anything just playing around. THats not good news, maybe your lock has been polished off but check that website surburban gave ya and hopefully it will help you out :) goood luck Celsdogg 01-29-2006, 12:02 AM i had the same problem with mine. ended up just pulling it until the handle came off. it broke the hinge. needless to say, a new glovebox handle was added to the list of repairs. . . Domingues 01-29-2006, 08:52 AM Thats the way its done celsdogg, if it doesnt open force the damn thing Celsdogg 02-07-2006, 06:54 PM well i didnt mean to, it actually came out quite easily. . . pada 02-08-2006, 11:24 AM The only real way to fix this without breaking something is to invert yourself, place your head in the passenger footwell, unscrew the hinges on the back of the glovebox unit and try to reach the lock/release from the inside ... this was a common failure back in the day. The good news is that the new handle/lock combo is easy to replace and fairly cheap ... er, inexpensive. :grinyes: Good luck!
