I was driving around and i saw a stealth for sale. i went back and checked it out:
-'93 Dodge Stealth ES (Red)
-$4,995

-124,155 mi
-new water pump
-new brakes
-leather interior
-Body/Interior looks good...couple very small scratches/dents here & there
- Stock tires/rims
- The black "tongue" thing under the front bumper is broken in two spots
- Stock tires/rims

would you guys say that this car is safe to buy?...
should the price be lower/higher?...

I don't know much about stealth pricing, but that sounds about right, maybe just a little bit high.

93, with 100K plus, tell him to go lower, check Kelly Blue book, kbb.com, $3000-4000.00 should be good.

I agree, that's a little high... I bought my '91 Stealth with 120k for $2k... it's the SOHC though... I was also in the market at the time for another (a spare) it was DOHC, 140k w/J-Spec engine... $2k... so I'd ask to go lower...

You could talk him down. My 3kgt only has 37k on the motor and a brand new transmission and I landed that for only 1k more than what this guy is asking for this Stealth.

i checked out the price of the car on KBB.com (from what i knowabout the car). i put all the engine and mechanical stuff as "good" because i dont know what condition the car really is but the website came up with $3666 if the car is in excellent condition and $3250 if the car is in good condition...which is what i think.

how do you suggest i get this person to bring down the price so much?

what would be my argument...??

for that price he better have the 120k done.

If I were you I would print out some price quotes and show him those. If he doesn't come down I would not buy it. Stealths and 3kgt's are hard to come by but with a enough searching you should be able to find a better deal on a 3/s n/a.

a dealership near me had a 91 stealth base with 127,000 miles and a salvage title for $4,000 lol

That's terrible... lol, I once tried to sell my Stealth (yeah, I was young and stupid)... and the dealership was only gonna give me $1600... they originally told me $3000 same as cash trade... the car only had 140k on it at the time... and tons of aftermarket... I have since dropped alot of the mods at that time... they were mostly rice and useless to HP...

price is high, i sold my 93 SL w/ 18" adr kasai chromed rims, and new leather, and it had all the 120k stuff done to it for $4500. But then I got a mint 94 vr-4 w/ 110k miles for $6k :)

should i get a 93 stealth es or a 93 3000gt base?

i want the car that has the least malfunctions and problems....

what do you guys think?

es is gonna be stripped down in luxery, but has a 222 hp DOHC engine, where as the base model might have a few more options, but wiht a 160HP SOHC engine.

I'd get the es

Hold on, I thought the 1st gen 3000 Bases came with the DOHC, or was that just the SL (the bases don't have spoilers, right)

You sure about that, Rocker? I didn't think they introduced the SOHC engine to the 3000GT until 97'. Maybe you're thinking about Stealths. I think they got the SOHC a lot earlier than we did.

Mikelb, all 3000GT's came with spoilers. Whether it was the active aero version, or just the one that didnt work, the hoop, or the combat wing(I think thats what it's called), they all had spoilers.

All base Stealths had the sohc engine
All ES Stealths had a dohc engine
Starting in 1997, base 3000gt's came with the sohc engine, before that they were dohc.

so which one would be more economical in the long run(tune ups, mechanical problems...etc)? 93 stealth es OR 93 3k gt base?

sorry about the confusion guys, I meant base stealths...

both the es and the base 3kgt are like the exact same car, inside and out, with the exception of the styling differences... the es might be the lighter of the two, but I'd get which ever is the better deal (i.e. less maintenance too worry about, lower miles, overall condition, etc...)

Actually... I go to school with a 3000GT that has no spoiler... original paint, no mounting holes... this guy don't have much money, so it hasn't been stripped off... looks completely original without the spoiler... I don't know if he's the original owner... but I'm certain he didn't do it... and his is a '93 3000GT Base

Original owner could have probably asked the dealership accessory shop to remove it when they bought it. But as far as I know, all 3000gts did come with some type of spoiler as said above.
