Well a friend of mine just got a 350 which is a 6-speed and is stock, so i asked him to race me so we go from a about 40 and im in 2nd and im sitting at 3k rpms and i honk 3x and we both floor it and he jumps on me and then i hit the spray and start to pass him, then we switch to 3rd and he starts to catch up again until i spray again and put a lil more distance on him.

I have a 5-speed and my mods include Mac CAI, True Dual Flowmasters, B&M short throw shifter, 3.73s, NX 75 shot, Diablosport predator.

Sounds like a nice car and good kill. I just am curious (seriously), why do people buy the V6 stangs and throw a bunch of money in them to make them fast when you could get a GT and then some mods on that with the money spent on the V6? It seems like the GT would be worth more later on and is more desired. Good kill though.

why do ppl by an sl 3000gt instead of a vr4?

it might have been a gift or dirt cheap or uniqueness. who knows?

The reason people get SL's instead of VR4's is mainly the price difference and because VR4's are very hard to come by. Vr4's are very expensive cars (much bigger gap between the V6 stang and the GT). I looked for a VR4 and they were between 12k-35k for car that is between 6-15 years old. Sl's are much cheaper. Gt's are everywhere you look. Anyway, I was just wondering, sounds like nice car.

exactly. insurance, price, there are many and many reasons... and the gap between the vr4 and sl and the v6 stang and the gt in speed is near identical.

and depending on were you live, the price is too

Mabye, but from when i was shopping I saw GT stangs from 4k-20k. I saw the vr4's at from 12k-35k except for one vr4 which was 4,500 and needed lots of TLC. Anyway, i dont want to start a dispute. I was just curious.

The 4k GT's you saw were probably pre 99's they are tons slower than the 99+ GT's. The 99+ GT's got Power Improved heads and intakes and more aggresive cams.

damn 4k for gt? probably not the freshest car on the block. lowest ive seen recently is 13 k for low miles.

Best stang deal- few weeks back saw a saleen sc 380ish hp for 21k with 20-30k miles

I never see vr4's for sale tho

there are indeed many reasons, me well once i get some money i wanna get a nice turbo on mine. i would have rather had a gt but now ive changed my mind, see theres definatly a uniqueness factor with having a boosted v6 stang. and the blocks and bottom end on the 3.8 are practically invinsible, meaning you can really turn on the boost. just need to replace a couple other things like the piston rods and rear end, which is easily found in a junkyard. also im savin gas and insurance money, neither of those two factors will change if i boost it either. i wont save quite as much gas though after boosting.

haha,

i would guess his choice is a combination of not having money and boosted honda syndrome... ie boost a honda, block blows, its cheaper to get a cheap sohc d16 block as opposed to an H22 or a type S motor ...:evillol:
