Coolant in the #2 piston.

1994 Pontiac Grand AM 2.3L Quad 4. Engine started having bad idle and some white smoke coming out. I removed the spark plugs. Facing the front of the vehicle and looking at the engine and counting from the left to right, the #2 piston has some coolant in it. I have already removed the intake manifold, throttle body, fuel rail, fuel injectors and in the process to remove the exhaust manifold, etc. Am I correct to assume that the head gaskets needs replacement?

Thanks,

Yes you are correct. Make sure once you pull he head that you check both the block and the head for warpage. If the head is warped have it trued up at a machine shop before reinstalling it.

if theirs coolant in the chamber/cylinder then I would say most likly your head gasket is blown out.
Has it leaked out any where else around the block, back or front?

Currently, from where I can see, the leak is coming out of the spark plug #2
