my friend is putting a sub in his durango he has a sony amp from his old car (2 channel, I believe somewhere between 50-100 watts per channel) hes gonna use a single 12" sub, if he were to get a 4ohm sub that would give him a 2 ohm mono load, correct? (assuming his amp is 2 ohm mono stable) or should he get a DVC sub? what would his wiring options be with a DVC? could he hook up 1 channel each to each voice coil? he's putting this in a dodge durango (1999) anyone put a system in this, he's looking to retain as much room as possible, the only "stealth boxes" they make is by MTX and it's a single 8" woofer (not nearly enough in my opinion for the amount fo room in a durango) thanks in advance

If the sub is a single voice coil then when hooks up the sub to the amp it will be running at a 4 ohm load. the only way to get the sub at a lower ohm for more output from the amp is getting a dual voice coil sub possibley a dual 4 ohm sub for better wiring options. As far as getting the most from the amp now to a single voice coil sub just bridge the amp.
