I have a 96' mustang that wouldn't turn over the other day even with a jumpoff. So I replaced the battery. But when I hooked it up, my alternator heats up hot to the touch so I disconnected the battery immediately. Repeated, same thing happens, and yes I know, + to + and - to - :grinyes: . Any ideas anyone?

voltage regulator.
i think they are a cheap replacement on the 3g alternators that come in your year. you can get them from 50-80 bucks depending on quality, but take the whole alternator rig down to local auto parts chain so that they can test it for you for free and determine if a new regulator will fix it or if the whole deal is shot.
