Or get really crazy and find someone to swap in one of the small honda vtec motors...

see i have a 1992 geo metro. but i work on cars for a living so i know how too get power out of it. one way is nos,turbo,engine work.

It's more of a power trip, like I have a car that's worth 10 times yours so I think i'm better than you and want to put you down to make myself feel better kind of thing. I just come in here to read the geo bashing, it's funny! Like the one where the dude said blow the geo up, get insurance money and buy a bike IS FUCKING HILARIOUS! Reason why people come in here to pick on the Geo is b/c it's fun, Geo is the brunt of all jokes cars. Whether you geo owners like it or not, it is. It's like the one person in your group of friends that everyone teases and makes fun of, it's fun for everyone but that person. That person in the automotive world, is the geo.

True, it is the bastard child of the U.S. automotive market. That's why I love em tho. Everyone's got a honda, acura, toyota, camaro, mustang. I've had em too. Some things you could try with not that much effort and without hit your expenses any bad are:
A whole tune up including new sparks (maybe platinum), wires, rotor, rotor cap
4+ timming degree on your distributor
2" air intake kit
If you can, put on it a 1&3/8" pipe exhaust system for 1.0L, or 1&3/4" for a 1.3L engine.

That would make a difference by now.

For looking purposes you should consider bigger/wider tires (I say 185x60x14) (but if you are looking for speed, should try 12" wheel instead)

You could try getting a 10 foot pole and making a sail! These cars arent supposed to be fast just reliable and good on gas

Here's an idea:

1. Remove all seats, carpet, interior panels and chop off roof
2. Remove everything from the car, leaving only the innerstructure, body, front and rear axles.
3. Replace your four aftermarket wheels with the emergency wheels for weight savings.
4. Remove doors and hindges,hood,rear wing,head/taillights and trunk/hatch
5. Replace driver's seat with a plastic inflatable seat


And finally, Roll the car down from a steep hill.

you don't have to get a geo to be different. There's lotus, Nissan, chrysler, etc... Nissan is my fav, not common, balls out power, nice styling, and not to mention reliable

Ehhh, nissans are not used as much purely because of price. I can buy 3 swift GT's for the price of a 92' sentra. And the aftermarket part market is very megar, and expensive. The only nissan with a big following is the 350z.... and yea, that's a $30k+ car just to start with. I paid $500 for my metro convertible. That's less than a car payment on a Nissan. So it's different, and affordable. Cause ya know, i'm broke :mad: Anyone wanna gimme free money? :iceslolan
edit: I forgot to mention, yea, Nissan's are awesome cars. powerful, reliable, and they ride nice! I've had a lot of cars. 88' dodge daytona shelby Z, 94' chrysler concorde, 98 dodge dakota, 91 dodge dynasty, 91' Camaro RS, 94' Infiniti J30, 93' chrysler LeBaron, 86' CRX, 98' dodge dakota, 90' Lincoln Continental, 02' chevy malibu... Then my first metro came, and that's all i've ever got since then. 93' metro hatchback, 91 metro convertible, 89 swift GTi, 91' firefly convertible(the black GT conversion), 92' metro convertible, 91' Swift GT, 92' metro convertible(new one with the GT conversion), and now, a 91' metro hatchback. The 91' metro is replacing my 90' lincoln continental, purely cause it gets 40+mpg, and the lincoln gets 12.

Yea, that was pretty lame, lol. Well, I like Geo's for a ton of reasons. I paid $500 for my metro CONVERTIBLE(nissan's don't have one except the 350z roadster and RX7. VERY expensive) I'm a drop top nut. And my metro was in perfect condition because it was a southern car. I pay $48/month in insurance, undestructable 1.3L, 35+mpg when I drive it nice, it handles better than just about any car I've ever driven(I used to be a porter for a Saab/Jag/aston martin dealer, so i've driven some NICE cars). It's very economical in every sense. And, it's unique. Everyone's got a honda, nissan, toyota, subaru. I live on my own, I make $10/hour, and I really can't afford to insure a car like a Nissan with my "previous driving history". We're not gonna go there, lol. But I haven't been pulled over in 2 years, so i'm doin good!!! It's the poor man's dream. The 1.0 is by no means a screamer, but if you maintain it, and drive it good, it'll pull almost 50mpg. Hybrid cars have trouble doing that, and they're barely any faster, and they're $20,000. And the honda is only a pint sized 2 seater.... with a 1.0L 3 cylinder, lol. I dunno. You'd never understand my love for my geo unless ya drove it. Name 1 other car that can cost total WITH engine work, body, parts, and all, less than $2000, cost less than $50/month to insure, pull .97g lateral acceleration, high 14s 1/4 mile(GPS tested. My buddy with his Tibueron has some cool toys :) ), and pull 30mpg, and i'll be the first in line to buy one. But till then, i'll drive my poor man's "sports" cabrio :) Besides, even tho its a Geo, chicks dig it! Nuthin catches a girl's attention like a little 2 seater drop top. Got my gf now cause of it! loooooong story, but she's great :) Besides, how crappy would you feel if you had some geo running side by side with your Nissan, and then it got all the attention at the car show? I love seeing people's faces when someone shows up with a Geo that is a no-joke car. People on the internet can flame it all they want, but i've never gotten a rude comment on it in person. Everyone loves it. I love it. Why change a good thing? Oh, and on the economy factor... You can buy a 2000 Metro LSi for about $2000 too. And they're excellent cars, and almost new. And come standard with a 16v 1.3L with multi point fuel injection. Still 40mpg, and a great deal on an almost new car, that's affordable for us "underdogs". I guess like the jeep guys say "It's a Geo thing". Great learner car for the not-mechanically inclined. It's a cinch to work on. If you're good, you can pull the whole motor and tranny in 2 hours. And drop a new one in in about 3 more hours. And a new motor is about $300.

I don't know where you get your info from man, but that's the way a car is supposed to be after an accident. Totalled. They're engineered to crumple, smash, wrinkle, and bend AROUND the passenger compartment, so the people inside are fine. I'd rather have a totalled car than 1 less leg. My ex gf last febuary took my metro convertible 100mph into a concrete wall, and walked out of it with some bad seat belt bruises, and some welts on her legs from her legs kicking the dashboard.

A few other members who have swift GT's(Geo's) have been hit head on by a bread truck, rolled over and hit a tree, slid sideways into trees, and so on, all walk out of the car with minor cuts and bruises.
So. In other words. Great job on your assumption.. Don't quit your day job! This thread is dead. If you want performance from your metro, just let me know. But for now, i'll leave you with this... For our members who can't help but be forever 13 :loser:

Getting totaled is not limited to Geos.I think you need to know what you are talking about before typing. :loser:

Also, the geos had one of the best note on security checks in 98, since the model didn't change much from 95 to 01, it's safe to say that the security on any mk4 geo is really great. I don't have anything on mk1 to 3 but I'm pretty sure they were still really safe.

Geos are inexpensive in all aspects (like geozuki posted above) and easy to work on. I got my newest Geo Metro for $350! And all it needs is a new clutch. $100 for the clutch kit. I've never done a clutch. But I'm willing to learn. Some new tools and I'm good to go. There are only the two main engines to worry about: 1.0 3 cyl and the 1.3 4 cyl. Just like any car, maintain it and it will run for you. My :2cents:

All I have to say is this, Who Cares you have a Geo and you only have to put in like 15 bucks and you have a full tank while big ol'e SUV boy over here has to put in 40 bucks and has to fill it every 2 days....Go ahead make fun of me I don't care I love my little white egg....I even named her Lady Bird from "King of the Hill"
