4.0 whaaaatredsentra94 01-21-2006, 11:23 PM my friend talked to his mechanic about a motor swap because i wanted to put an sr20 in but i found out that his mechanic says i can fit his 6cyl 4.0 ford ranger in it fugiot 01-22-2006, 12:06 AM Haha, don't do it. You'd overload your tranny with unusable torque and a low HP output. Size doesn't matter. The SR20 is a far better choice. An SR20DE with bolt-on would still take a Sentra with a Ranger 4.0 in it. xviciousx 01-22-2006, 12:06 AM what he said nismo_pilot 01-22-2006, 04:10 AM lol rwd to fwd engine conversion..... plus you picked the wekaest v6 you could put in there..... what a tard redsentra94 01-22-2006, 09:53 AM lol rwd to fwd engine conversion..... plus you picked the wekaest v6 you could put in there..... what a tard number one i havent put it in there number two i would replace the tranny xviciousx 01-22-2006, 01:04 PM :uhoh: fugiot 01-22-2006, 02:55 PM number one i havent put it in there number two i would replace the tranny With what tranny? You can't use the ranger tranny. It would be WAY too difficult of a swap and end up useless. Never swap a truck motor into a car and expect it to be fast. When you really think about it...I mean REALLY... a FOUR LITER V6.... That's like a 2.7 liter FOUR CYLINDER(proportionally)! That is far too great of a stroke for each cylinder to create any sort of useful power for a car. I'm sure it's great for a small truck that's towing bags of cement around in the bed, but once that torque gets your Sentra off the line, it's not going anywhere fast. It would be moving like one of those horrible 3.8 V6 Mustangs. Haha, high 16-second 1/4 miles with nearly 200hp. It boggles the mind! "..But it feels fast!:frown: cficare68 01-22-2006, 08:50 PM Not to mention the SR20 would be a hell of a lot easier to mod then the 4.0. nismo_pilot 01-22-2006, 10:34 PM im just wondering how you plan on custom fabbing a tranny.... because there isnt a tranny that will fit in your engine bay that will bolt up to a rwd motor........also your car would probably be slower in every measureable quality..... corect me if im wrong but that 4.0 is a cast iron block.... not exactly high up on the list of lightness...... also it puts out good torque but VERY low in the rpm range..... which gets you smoking tires and a vision of everyone elses brake lights as you sit at the starting line......it also has a low redline which makes your gears short so there is no room to take advantage of all of that torque...... unless you swpa final gears but that could make you even slower...... do yourself a favor and mod a car that is actually worth it...... yeah having a fast fwd car is fun and all but if youre building a project car that you want to be really fast, which is what i assume youre doing since you are talking about dropping a v6 into an econobox..... fwd is not the way to go..... you wanna have some fun...... go drop that 4.0 into a 240 or something..........seriously dude, you make me laugh everytime you post Chiquae07 01-23-2006, 12:38 AM lol....this makes no sense, even my brother isn't that dumb, and he doesn't even know was cams are...lol nismo_pilot 01-23-2006, 03:17 AM arent those the things that make the gas go boom? xviciousx 01-23-2006, 07:31 AM  Chiquae07 02-05-2006, 02:08 AM lol..... Chiquae07 02-05-2006, 02:09 AM but to make the gas go boom, u need the top secret blinker fluid and the Fast and the Furious body wax for super fast aerodynamics slideways... 02-05-2006, 02:35 AM Chiquae07 02-06-2006, 12:15 AM great find...will buy from soon.... redsentra94 02-07-2006, 08:05 PM i dont plain on doing it slideways... 02-08-2006, 12:22 AM fugiot 02-08-2006, 03:59 AM Haha, he never intended to go through with it. I'd be more worried about the "mechanic" who made him think it might be a good idea. nismo_pilot 02-08-2006, 12:59 PM hold the flaming guys, he actually asked something intelligent in another thread he started, i think our boy is finally coming along........this deserves a round of applause!!!!!!!!!! vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
