Starting problem and rough runningtayl0124 01-20-2006, 12:29 PM Okay I have a 97 JXI it has roughly 113k Miles on it. My service engine light went on and haven't been able to get my girlfriends dad down to take a look at it yet( he has a computer to check the codes). Here are the problems. When I try to start it I have to press on the gas in order to get it to start (if I let it crank over enough times it will eventully(sp?) fire, but will still need to press on the gas. Once it is started it runs really rough, almost like there is some sort of vibration. anyone know what could cause this. This is how it started. I drove to my childs daycare from work(about a 15 minute drive). Got my son and left the daycare house and started to drive home(only 2 block away) When I pulled into my alley that is when it started to run rough and vibrate, and the light went on. It is possably that pulling into my driveway could have jarred something loose since there is kind of a bump at the entrence of our alley. Also I live in Minneosta where the temp has been around 25F lately. Any help would be appreciated. indyal 01-20-2006, 09:25 PM sounds like you have a vacum leak somewhere tayl0124 01-22-2006, 11:10 PM okay had the car hooked up to the computer, it said that the tps voltage was high, and that cylinder 1 was misfireing. So it looks like a tune up for me. tayl0124 02-08-2006, 03:58 PM replaced, plugs, wires, rotor, dist. cap, pcv valve. to no avail. It still ran like crap. But looking at the plug in cylinder 1 it appeard to be fouled out or something. Much blacker looking than the rest. So this morning I replaced my injectors. Seems to be better now. But have only taken it around the block. I will see in a couple of days I guess. Darth Zavious 03-05-2006, 02:58 PM replaced, plugs, wires, rotor, dist. cap, pcv valve. to no avail. I have to replace the egr tube gaskets though, because my kit didn't come with them. I will do that in the next couple of weeks though. I have checked them for leaks and it seems to be holding fine. but for $3 I am going to replace them with new ones anyways. Darth Zavious 03-13-2006, 11:49 AM Thanks for sharing. If you want a tutorial on how to get it done, go here. http://www.sebringclub.net/gallery/1GenSparkPlugs This is what convinced me to do it myself. It ended up being a bad fuel injector, but I need to change the plugs anyways since it is recomended at 100,000 and I had 114000 vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
