is it true if a vehicle is remapped it may cause alot of problems afterward and that it is neccessary to remap again. can anyone help. thx

You mean remap the PROM of the computer because you have some upgrates done to it?

is this the only remap that can be done or r there other alternative remaps???

But most computers have EPROM or some sorta module (different names) that contents all the info and the program with calibration to actually control the whole fuel injection systems. Its sorta like alternative to aftermarket super chips. I belive you could remap this (custom tune it, or burn a new one)

but i heard from from a couple of sources saying that ,yes remap is good in a way but there maybe some after affects and it will lead to numerous probs,hence having to remap again or reinstate back to original manufacturers setting.

EPROM = Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory. A chip that uses EPROM memory can be re-written out in the field, vs. standard microchips, whose instruction sets are physically "burnt-in" during the manufacturing process, and whose contents cannot be modified.

There's no technical reason why an EPROM's contents would need to be reset, unless there was something wrong with the remap to begin with.

An after market one will give some more power and vaste more gas. I dont know if there that enhance fuel economy. Usually people do it because they put perfomance heads on, cam, bigger intake, and upgarted the fuel injection (bigger injectors). Or if you retro-fit a fuel injection to slightly different engine. It doent hurt anything but its done when really needed.

so does that mean if i remapped, the info is actually piggy backed to the stock map, will the new mapping info be picked up on a dianogstic at the manufacturers.please advise on the latter part from previous post bout probs after install of new map.will this void warranty

Itsan entirely new map-similar to stock, but different in some parameters.Unless its a chip that plugs in into the test connector or piggybacks somewhere So me thinks it voids the warrany if they notice that it has been done to the computer (for the perfomance use). If its just a stock remap done by a dealership than no.
