Wheel bearing questionjpfinne 01-19-2006, 03:46 PM i have a 99 accord 5 speed and recently there has been a loud humming noise. it gets louder and softer depending on the speed and when i turn to the left sharply it goes away but i can't tell where it is coming from. i am fairly certain it is a wheel bearing, however i do now know which bearing it is. would it be the rear passanger since when i turn to the left the noise goes away? any suggestions would be appreciated. jlcljayne 01-20-2006, 01:58 AM Usually you can check wheel bearings by jacking up the car, enough to raise the tire in question in the air. Put your hands at 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock and try and move the tire back and forth. If there is play then you may have a loose axle nut or bad wheel bearings. If you put hands at 3 and 9 then you may have worn steering components....I know this is basic but hope it helps! vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
