Hi, I'm looking at buying a Nissan Sentra 1996 station wagon, as I hear they are really reliable. However I need to put roofracks on - has anyone done this or do you know whether the body could handle it, plus the weight of some big sea kayaks? Thanks

the body should be able to handle it, if the car sits too low you might want to update to heavier duty shocks and springs. other than that, im not sure how to put one on exactly. you must be not in the U.S., we didnt get a sentra wagon.

Where are you from? I've never seen a B14 wagon in the States.

Hi, thanks for your advice, slideways. Yeah, I'm in New Zealand, but just moved here from Australia. They have all sorts of weird Japanese imports here that I've never seen before. The 96 Sentra wagon is actually not a sexy car at all, really square back, but apparently it just keeps going and going and going, and it's great on mileage too. A few kayaks on top should improve its appearance! I've found "Rola Roofracks" to put on top - the rails get riveted in, then you slide crossbars on top. The commercial ones can handle 80kg of weight so should be fine. You can fit Thule racks as well but they cost a lot more for the name, they look just about identical. Cheers for your help...
