Civic VS 96 eclipsejustin476 01-17-2006, 05:26 AM My buddy talks smack all the time about how his 96 eclipse is faster than my 89 hatch. He only has exhaust, but i'm running a dohc zc, with i/e. I'm also rollin on 17's which could make a big differance. He lost his license for the next few months so we won't be able to race for a while, but what do you guys think? Can i spank him? GScivic7 01-17-2006, 07:06 AM if it's an RS or GS, it should be an interesting race. If it has a 4G63 underneath the hood, don't waste your time with it, he'll smoke you. RSX-S777 01-17-2006, 08:42 AM Sweet. When is it NOT a good idea to street race after you finally got your license back, am I right? If the question was "Who's more of a retard?", I'd say it's your friend. Then again I don't know you that well. And how are your 17s going to make a huge difference? Schister66 01-17-2006, 08:49 AM 17's are going to change the gearing....its going to be higher so acceleration is a little slower, but top speed is higher.....It should be an interesting race -Jayson- 01-17-2006, 12:45 PM 17's are going to change the gearing....its going to be higher so acceleration is a little slower, but top speed is higher.....It should be an interesting race not unless you have half a brain, then you size your tires properly and theres no difference in anything. Only thing you have is a little more weight on the tires. Schister66 01-17-2006, 01:38 PM how many people honestly do that...most just get a set of rims and w/e tires they can find....i'll almost guarantee you that the 17's that he has now are a larger diameter overall than the stock rims and tires..... RSX-S777 01-17-2006, 01:49 PM His 17's will do zero but rob power during acceleration on that car. If he had a torque monster it might be an advantage. Factor in added weight (assuming) and you can subtract another 4-6 hp. -Jayson- 01-17-2006, 02:11 PM i did that with my rims and tires. I went from a 16 inch stock rim to a 17 inch aftermarket rim. I got smaller tires so that everything stay accurate. I think the stock tires were like 195/55, now with the 17s i have 215/45. There is a difference of less than 1 MPH. -Jayson- 01-17-2006, 02:11 PM i did that with my rims and tires. I went from a 16 inch stock rim to a 17 inch aftermarket rim. Schister66 01-17-2006, 03:03 PM well here's the thing, there are a handful of people that do that....i would, you did and i'm sure there are others, but for the most part people dont do that because people are lazy! justin476 01-17-2006, 07:45 PM 1) I think it is a GS but i'm not 100% sure..i i know forsure it's not the awd turbo. 2) I did try and make my wheels the same size as stock. i have 40 series on them and they are only i think an extra inch/inch and a half bigger. I wasn't even looking at buying 17's anyway, i just got such a good deal on them i couldn't pass it up. 3) And yes, street racing is a dumb idea especially if you lost it in the first place for speeding lol. but hey..don't play if you can't pay Schister66 01-21-2006, 05:08 PM it could be a GS-T and if it is, you're going to lose pretty badly.... Shpyder 01-24-2006, 01:12 PM Sweet. When is it NOT a good idea to street race after you finally got your license back, am I right? If the question was "Who's more of a retard?", I'd say it's your friend. lol. A GS-T should be faster in theory, but don't underestimate how much leverage an opponent with bad driving/launch skills can give ya'. L8R_H8R 01-24-2006, 02:53 PM how many people honestly do that...most just get a set of rims and w/e tires they can find....i'll almost guarantee you that the 17's that he has now are a larger diameter overall than the stock rims and tires..... I did. But thats just cuz i worked at a tire shop at the time. KrNxRaCer00 01-26-2006, 06:58 AM hrmmmm...race and find out. like shpyder said, a bad driver can make a quick car pretty fucking slow. Shpyder 01-27-2006, 02:53 AM a bad driver can make a quick car pretty fucking slow. Come on now, I'm not that bad! :icon16::tongue: S13wanabe 02-02-2006, 07:55 PM Why do threads like this even get any responses. Moderators should lock crap threads like this. Hey my friend has a ford pinto with a turbo, will i beat him with my brand new mini cooper s with exhaust. Just simply put, "Race and find out." And lock the thread of course. iVteC_PoWeR 02-02-2006, 08:14 PM the only reason i would accept a post about "would i beat this" is if it was for money than you have a legitimate reason for asking but other than that its probably all about personal pride dxasaurus 02-14-2006, 07:49 PM the only reason i would accept a post about "would i beat this" is if it was for money than you have a legitimate reason for asking but other than that its probably all about personal pride racing for money is a legit reason? lmao. Ima have to get my pos d series back on the streets to share some victories over schoolbuses. The racing stories have been going down hill.:( lately I've been lucky that I can get it to turn over. I really need a swap or a new car. I am too slow to run with the token ricer, ffs.:( vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
