I recently bought a 1999 Jimmy and I want to add some performace parts to my engine. The problem is, I dont have a clue what to add and what not to. If anyone could give me some advice, it would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I just did a search on engine mods, and between the jimmy, sonoma, blazer, and s10 boards I came up with a little over 8000 threads on the subject...

That said, before I or anyone else can give you any advice, how much money do you have to spend?

Mods can run anywhere from 40 bux (k&n filter) to 300.00 (headers and Y pipe) to 4000.00 (supercharger or turbo)

Well in the long run I would like to spend about $2000.
SO a 4.3L V6 Vortec is the same as any other 4.3L V6 Vortec, regaurdless of Jimmy, Blazer, Sanoma???

Yes, jimmy, blazers are the same SUV, s10 and sonoma are the same pickups, from the front doors forward all of them are the same. The bravada is the same as the suv's except with AWD..

If you have 2k to spend, I would look into a turbo.

As for now I would just like to add some minor parts. Lets say a Cold Air Intake and some other stuff. The thing is, I have no idea where to find some of this stuff and what parts are compatable with my 1999 Jimmy.

K&N cold air intake (get it from advance autoparts or autozone)
JBA headers and Y pipe (summitracing.com)
Gibson catback system (summitracing.com)
Flowmaster 40 muffler (summitracing.com, some will disagree on the brand of muffler)

I'll agree with you, I love the flowmaster sound.

I wouldn't worry about the throttle body spacer, or the performance chips.

As for the sparkplugs, most people agree that AC Delco platinums are the best for these engines. I've had good luck with Autolite plats at shorter change intervals, but recently purchased the AC Delco plats for my next change.

Spacer=useless and you don't have a tbi
Fuel pump?
Sparkplugs AC-delco platinums

No chips for your truck, you would need an HPP III programmer for tweaking

For 2k though I would either do a turbo or a v8

Call summit and ask which one is for your truck. If you do decide to get a gibson catback or similar, let them know so they can adjust the inlet and outlet properly

And for god's sake, buy from summitracing.com not cardomain
