Ipulled my engine from my neon i have been trying to get the damper off for 3 days.I tried wd40 and leaving pressure on it over night but still wont budge dose any 1 have any ideas or is the block shot?

You are using a puller I assume, or are you using the Hammer and pry bar method. My Grandpa used to heat the V/D up with a torch to get them off when they were stuck. Have to be carful not to catch anything on fire though. He caught an old Chevy truck on fire once when I was about 5. I was "helping" him and the engine caught on fire. Of course he couldn't move out from under the truck very fast so I ran out side, grabbed some snow and started throwing snow on the fire. Needless to say Grandpa got hit by more snow than the engine did, but he was OK. He said it was better to be cold than burnt (RIP 1923-2003).

ya im using a puller i tried heating it with a small propane torch but ill take it up to my nabors and see iff he'll let me use his torch my dad was sayin the key way might be bent thoe. If that block is shot theo how hard wuold it be to drop a 2.4l in it.

I can't imagine a damper being on that tight if you are using a good quality damper puller. If you are just using a regular wheel puller get a damper puller. If you have a good damper puller tighten the center bolt to maximum and whack the end of the center bolt head on with a 24 oz. minimum hammer, a few times if necessary. You may have to retighten and whack some more, but that should get it off.

im using a 3lbs. hammer and a good puller. it bent the bolt going threw the middle of the puller. im using another 1 now im guna leave it n over night and tomarow ill try again. do u think the key way could be bent?

FYI, WD-40 is a water displacement liquid. Try some penetrating oil.

WOW! There isn't a bolt holding it on that needs removed? Probably not, just a thought. If the keyway is wedged holding it on, you could try pounding the damper in a clockwise direction. The engine turns clockwise from the front, thus forcing the damper counter clockwise as it drives the accessories. You need to go clockwise with it to release it, if that is the problem. Pound on the puller or the bolts holding the puller on so you don't damage the damper. If you are using a regular pulley puller,no matter how heavy, and not a harmonic balancer puller(that's what I think they used to call them anyway) I personally would try one of those next before I tried anything else. WOW! There isn't a bolt holding it on that needs removed? There is a bolt that holds it on, but that usually isn't the problem that people run into. It's usually either the wrong puller or not a long enough insert. The one from Autozone has a short insert, so people use the side motor mount bolt. I got one from a junkyard as use that one, when I need to pull it off.
