can anyone tell me where the iat sensor is on my 92 nissan sentra? I read you could replace the iat sensor with a resistor which has the ohms reading of the iat sensor at a low temp and fake the ecm out. Making it think the temp is cooler therefor making the fuel mixture richer and gaining more horsepower and throttle responce. I know it sounds like a cheap trick and nissan sentras weren't made for speed exactly but I would still like to give it a try and squeeze every bit of throttle responce and horsepower I can get out of it's stock engine. Also if anyone else know anymore tips I'm open to make any modifications ,,,provided i feel safe with them with my limited mechanical knowledge.

dont do that gay IAT + resistor trick. it works yeah but it really doesnt do shit. 2 or 3 degrees timing advance wont even make a difference on a stock 1.6. and you should use at least 90 octane with it so its more expensive also.
trust me i tried it on my 99 sentra SE w/ SR20DE and it did next to nothing, no better throttle response and maybe 1 hp after intake/exhaust.(seat of pants dyno).
i hooked up a scantool to the ECU and it did say the intake air temp was -40 degrees though...

OH..... and LEARN about cars before you do stuff like that to them. making the ecu think your getting cold air WONT richen the AF mixture, it will advance the timing.

and richening the A/F mixture will NOT make your car faster. (read: 0 HP!)
richen it too much and itll run like shit. lean it out too much and youll blow it up.

and you need the EXACT correct resistor or else you could do something bad. people who do this dont use just any resistor.

you want throttle response? get a light weight flywheel and leave your car bone stock.

you want power? buy a new car.

if you really want to try it, the IAT should be attached to the intake box, or the cold air attachment before the filter element. should have 2 wires going to it. the MAF sensor is the big plug after the filter.
