I just removed my dual 10 sub box which has the amp and cap included from my truck and I don't believe how much better the truck rides and performs.

Ride is much smoother and the increase in pickup is making this truck kinda fun to drive again.

I know that every ounce counts BlazerLT, but just how much does your sub box weigh to make such a difference.

I hardly feel any difference between a full load and empty with mine.

Truck does perform a bit better, I am not talking let's go to the races type power, but the pickup is there again. My box is quite heavy and is close to 100lbs with the amp, cap and everything.

Honesty and being straight with people often is the best solution.....welll...at least with men. They often will say "Cool, sorry bout that" and the problem will never come about again.

Put all that equip on a scale, just curious how much weight you shaved off.

I lifted the big lug out of there.

I do not think the younger generation is going to give up there Sub box's without a good strong fight.
I do not know how many amps or HP them things take but I tryed to hook up a battery with one on.
Scared me to death I thought I done hooked it up backwards and blowed it up.

Naw, this thread was not really a guide to weight removal, it was more of an observation thread where I saw a difference with it removed.

I think I am honestly going to be redoing the box anyways. The box is just way to big for what I need and isn't built that well.

The reason you noticed a big difference may be more of a weight balance thing than the actual weight you removed. Or the old teeter totter effect.
Putting more weight on one end lifts up the other end and will sometime change the vehicle balance. And make it act like 2 to 3 times more weight than it actually is.
On a big truck if you put the entire load on one end it will pull 2 –3 times as hard as it would if you load it in the middle.
Also a car on the back of a tow truck will pull 2-3 times as hard as it would if you pulled it with a tow strap or on a trailer.
I guess it is the law of physics but all I know is it does work out like that.

True, that will effect the ride for sure.

But trust me, taking all unneeded weight out of a truck is a great way to get better performance and economy.

Heh, he has a brain like a seive and soon forgets. The last time I reminded him not to slam my door was in the parking lot of a store when I heard his door "closing" echoing off of the building walls. I looked at him and simply said, "You're the only guy that uses that door. When the plastic clips break, the hinge bolts need to be replaced, or you kill the switches/window motors - I'll know where to send the bill."

Hasn't done it again, but I also have refused to take him anywhere lately too. May be best to make my truck off-limits and never let him borrow it. (Not that I ever did - he has his own mini-van) We'll see how it goes fom here on out. I have addressed the problem with him in the past, but he gets defensive, and forgetful. You should have seen what I did to one guy that pushed my Subaru door shut with his boot when we were at a rest area 1000 miles from home....

My future mom in law and the brother in law both like to slam doors as well.

It gets really bad especially when they both are in for a ride. The brother in law likes to give attitude like I am being too picky or something.

Can't stand when people don;t respect other people's property, and then defend their bullshit by saying I am the problem.

It is like people not knocking off their boots before getting into the truck and for the love of hell don't smack your boots off the door sill to get the snow off. Like I need chipped pain all along my door sill and then the rust coming in.

My gf is awesome about it. We both clap out boots together before swinging into the truck seat.

If you want to really drive me insane, stuff food wrappers under seats and gum seat motors up. Needless to say there are two people already permanently on my "no ride" list. And WTF is it with people putting feet up on dash panels and my glovebox?!?!

If I really want to humiliate them, I give them a demonstration on how to close my truck doors... they all shut with the force excerted from a single finger from wide open to solidly closed. The feet on the dash is a big nono for me too.

my ex-girlfriend had the nerve to put some oils on her feet and press them on my windsheild. She actually pressed hard enough to put a huge crack all the way up. The rest of the trip sure took a long time since I refused to talk to her. That's 1 of the 2 times in almost 3 years that she made me mad

You want to know what makes you mad, getting a phone call 7:30 this morning from your gf stating she wrote off her car and then you go up to see her at the scene and she is wearking highheels and ridiculous pants when it is -3f out and completely ice and this is after she said that she would start wearing more appropriate clothes for the dead of winter here in Canada. This and she caused the accident by pulling out in front of a pickup truck.

Then you take her to the station where you find out your passenger caliper on your truck is seized and possibly warped the rotor.

Don't take shit out on the ladyfriend. She probably already knows what she did. As for the caliper - NAPA locally has the whole assembly for just under $30, + $5 for the torx bolts/pins to hold them all together against your hubs. So it's no big deal - you can do the swap and bleed in under an hour....hour and a half with frequent breaks to come in out of the cold and sip cocoa or tea. You *can't* be mad when enjoying tea. I suggest a stout Earl Grey. :D

I'm cool now, she knew she was in shit when I showed up and she was wearing those ridiculous clothes in this weather.

Remember, this is after asking her to wear more appropriate attire 10 times.

No patience left and she knows now why I ask her to dress properly.

As for the accident, it is her fault and she knows it. No sweat off of me, she is going to pay for it.

Now she has to walk to work which is only a 15 minute walk. No biggie.
