dimming lightsdokker 01-12-2006, 06:52 PM Every once in a while my headlights and dash lights will dim slightly while i am driving down the road. Only dims for a few seconds at a time but does happens often. Any ideas? panzer dragoon 01-12-2006, 08:59 PM Alternator (do a search on this forum for the info). Check those battery connections for corrosion or looseness also. Seems to be worse in the Winter and if yours isn't really that noticeable I would leave it. Mine has gotten better and doesn't do it anymore, maybe it will start up again. If you do a lot of night driving you may want to get your alternator changed to the new part # one. The part # changed to fix this condition. billsea 02-12-2006, 05:19 PM On my 2001, this is caused by the air pump in the emissions control system. When they quit dimming, it was because the pump had failed. On a different thread, the response indicated this only occurs if the pump is drawing too much current- I can't confirm or deny that. happycrazygirl 02-16-2006, 10:14 PM i have a problem kinda like that it started as dimming and after awhile it went to the headlights actually going all the way off every time i step on the gas it doesn't do it every time but it is starting to do it more often than before vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
