I think you'd be better off knowing the location of the sensor, as opposed to a wire color that could be shared with hundreds of other sensors, feeds, accessories...

You wouldn't want to tap in directly at the sensor - that might goof up vehicle functionality. More likely you would want to connect at the Vehicle Speed Output signal from engine controller which feeds other modules with a "standard" signal. Of course your navigation system would have to be compatible with that signal.

Do you know what type of signal the navigation system is compatible with? The "standard" output is a square wave signal grounded by powertrain controller. It has 4000 "pulses per mile". That translates into some frequency/MPH but I don't know the number off hand.

Anyways that signal is likely most readily available to you at either the gage cluster or the fuse block assembly on left side of instrument panel.

So do you have more details about nav system - web site (if it contains details like that)?

The unit is a AVIC-N1 by pioneer!

Pink (CAR SPEED SIGNAL INPUT)
The mobile navigation system is connected here to detect the distance
the vehicle travels. Always connect the vehicle’s speed detection
circuit or the ND-PG1 speed pulse generator, sold separately. Failure
to make this connection will increase errors in the location display.

Thats all their website has. Copied straight from the installation manual! No specifications page!

I registered with their web site and sent in a request for more details on this. Let's see how good their tech support staff is.

Oh well, at least I tried. Here was response from Pioneer Tech support

Thank you for contacting Pioneer Electronics, Inc.
I do not have any specifications on what signals the unit is looking for.
I would suggest contacting a professional installer, they can verify if you have connected to the correct wire of the vehicle.
