My Lumina was developing a weird problem, it felt like the wheel weights had come off, when accelerating, about 20 mph the left front would feel like it was jumping up and down, like a out of round tire, then at 50-60 all would be smooth untill you turned a bit either direction, then it would feel like wheel again was out of balance but now shaking side to side.
As a couple weeks past by, it got to where when you were stopped, and had to pull out and turn at same time, it would make the steering wheel shake, front of car move side to side.(more felt than seen)
I tried a different tire on that side and it didnt change any. Hmmmm, well i put a new axle in the left side and problem went away. I took old one apart and it was the inner cv that was casuing it, the tripod "rollers" had worn grooves in the housing they turned in.
It was the first time i ever had a vibration like that from a inner cv joint. Whole point of post is that you would have sworn i had a bad/unbalaned tire or slightly bent wheel or something,There was no clicking or noise at all either.Just shows that a inner can go bad, and show up its evil doings out at the wheel and no place else.
so maybe this will help someone down the line. Also new timing chain/gears and tensioner, a new steering coloum all in the last week, so... back on the road again...
