My 91 toyota pick-up starts up fine but after I drive for awhile it doesnt want to stay running and seems to be idling really low. Sometimes its worse than other but i just replaced the alternator and thermostat and now it is pretty bad. I dont know how the parts I just replaced could affect the idle but any suggestions would be great. Thanks

I would assume that you've adjusted the idle speed up?

How do you ajust the idle speed on a 22re?

If the 91 is like the 92... On the intake manifold shortly after where the aluminum and plastic meet and to the left, there is a screw on top, straight blade. Turn it counterclockwise to increase idle speed, a little goes a long way! Somewhere between 750-1000 RPM is the sweet spot on mine.

It could be your fuel injectors are clogged. Try some cleaning additive and see if that works before messing around with the engine. It's easy and usually it works.

Check for vacuum leaks.

sheck that none of the wires were damaged when the alt was replaced also check all your grounds and the positive from the alt to battery. If it started right after the alt it is probably wiring and could also be a defective alt
