91 22re wont idle after its warmed up91 4x4 yot 01-09-2006, 12:08 AM My 91 toyota pick-up starts up fine but after I drive for awhile it doesnt want to stay running and seems to be idling really low. Sometimes its worse than other but i just replaced the alternator and thermostat and now it is pretty bad. I dont know how the parts I just replaced could affect the idle but any suggestions would be great. Thanks amorton 01-09-2006, 04:47 PM I would assume that you've adjusted the idle speed up? 91 4x4 yot 01-09-2006, 07:44 PM How do you ajust the idle speed on a 22re? amorton 01-09-2006, 08:02 PM If the 91 is like the 92... On the intake manifold shortly after where the aluminum and plastic meet and to the left, there is a screw on top, straight blade. Turn it counterclockwise to increase idle speed, a little goes a long way! Somewhere between 750-1000 RPM is the sweet spot on mine. If you can't find it, give me your email address and I will send you a picture of where the idle adjustment screw is. Good luck. 91 4x4 yot 01-09-2006, 09:27 PM thanks alot, I really appreciate the help. OrToy 01-09-2006, 11:31 PM It could be your fuel injectors are clogged. Try some cleaning additive and see if that works before messing around with the engine. It's easy and usually it works. KimMG 01-10-2006, 02:10 AM Check for vacuum leaks. greenhorn 01-12-2006, 01:01 AM sheck that none of the wires were damaged when the alt was replaced also check all your grounds and the positive from the alt to battery. If it started right after the alt it is probably wiring and could also be a defective alt Arizman 04-12-2009, 08:13 PM Can you send me pic to krbldwn2@yahoo.com where i can adjust idle more speed up when engine is warm for 1993 toyota pick up with 22 re thanks( vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
