Roadmaster 5.7
Base Number of Cylinders: 8
Base Engine Size: 5.7 liters
Base Engine Type: V8 Horsepower: 260 hp
Max Horsepower: 5000 rpm Torque: 330 ft-lbs.
Max Torque: 3200 rpm

Basically, the engine is an iron head version of the Chevrolet LT1, first introduced in 1992 in the Corvette and in 1993 in the Camaro with aluminum heads rated @ 275 HP. It has a 2-bolt main. The iron head engine were also used in the Impala SS and police packages and were rated @ 260HP. They have a reverse flow cooling feature, that means that coolant flows through the heads first and then through the block. It has a front drive distributor normally referred to as an "Optispark" which gave lots of problems retaining moisture in 92-93-94, LT1's, and it was redesigned to incorporate a venting system in 1995. (Still prone to problems)!!
The bottom end is basically a 350 cu. in. Chevy small block, however the crank and cam has a different design on the front to drive the water pump and Optispark. The rest is typical 350 cu. in. parts, 4" bore X 3.75 stroke. Any part of the engine internals will interchange with those of the same model Chevrolet. Some of the externals are unique to the Buick.

What else do you need to know?

Remember the Vette LTX and any replacement engines that were installed were 4 bolt main blocks. A mechanical fan equipped B-car has a power loss of around 10hp and a few ft lbs of tq.
