Oil Filter, Which one?old_master 01-07-2006, 08:39 PM Lately I have noticed several posts regarding oil filters. This article should clear the air (and perhaps the oil) about what constitutes a good one. Check this out and see if it changes your preference. http://minimopar.knizefamily.net/oilfilterstudy.html Kings-x59 01-10-2006, 09:12 PM Yep it did change my preference. I've been using Fram filters for years. I can see now I'm going to have to spend some time reading through the article to find a new brand. And soon too, my ole jeep is about to roll over on 160k miles and happens to be ready for its 3k oil change. Thanks for the post. old_master 01-10-2006, 09:32 PM I have been a tech for over 30 years and have always used and recommended Fram filters, up until I found this article a few years ago. Purolator Pure One is the answer now! I found a similar article on engine oil that I have been contemplating posting here. That one is a real nightmare to understand though. Kings-x59 01-11-2006, 10:43 PM Post it anyway. Hopefully reading it won't give me nightmares. I use Castrol GTX. I hope I don't discover that's junk too. old_master 01-11-2006, 11:21 PM Post it anyway. Hopefully reading it won't give me nightmares. I use Castrol GTX. I hope I don't discover that's junk too. It's posted under "It's all about oil" Have fun, Castrol GTX is above average with one exception, ash content is high, not good. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
