Hello everyone,
I have a 01 Grand Cher. Laredo with straight 6 cyl. I have over 160000k highway miles. I have an oil leak from front of eng, can't seem to figure out where it's leaking from. I had a mechanic replace crank/sft seal, but leak remains. Seem like it's right above the wtr/pmp, but cant tell. Has anyone come across this oil leak problem, if so, any ideas? Where is Oil pressure Switch located on 4.0 eng?
Help... thanks Luke

Usually the rear main oil seal goes bad before the front crankshaft one?
Have the mechanic check that and see if that was it, he should do it for a discount, as he probably should have replaced that too at the same time.

I Believe On The 6cyl Its Next To The Oil Filter On The Right Side. The Best Way To Diagnose Any Oil Leak Is To Add A Flourescent Dye To The Oil And Shine A Black Light On The Suspect Area-dye Is Available At Any Aftermarket Store

I would say that if the oil leak seems to be above the water pump, that it's most likely the valve cover gasket.

With your engine cold, soak it down with Citrus Blast. This is a good degreaser that is available at most discount stores and also auto parts stores. Let it set for a half hour or so and take your jeep to the car wash and clean your engine, be sure to wash it with it running. With your engine clean, it should be easier to track your oil leak as well as clean up your engine compartment.
