It may work. good luck. Does anyone have any other ideas? swinsoneric 01-09-2006, 11:06 AM Forgive me for sounding stupid but what does resetting the computer do ? malibu matt 01-09-2006, 11:55 AM Forgive me for sounding stupid but what does resetting the computer do ? When a misfire condition occurs in the engine or the engine produces more emissions than it is supposed to the check engine light comes on. Several factors can cause this. A common problem is the evap system where there can be a gasoline leak somewhere in the system. Once the check engine light comes on, it will stay on until the code is cleared and computer reset. A dealer or automotive repair shop can clear the code thus turning off the check engine light however they will charge you for this. my question to everyone is how can I reset the computer myself without having to take it to the dealer? coffeecup 01-21-2006, 09:37 PM When a misfire condition occurs in the engine or the engine produces more emissions than it is supposed to the check engine light comes on.
