I am gonna be gone for about 7 weeks......but when I get back, I am buying my friend's 91 CRX for about a grand......it's in good shape, no rust......just needs a new left fender.....but I want to probably swap in a B16.....either a1 or a2.....whats the diff.....what's better, and are both DOHC VTEC? I know they're both VTEC, but which would be better?? And I was wondering if Evan's Honda Specialist http://www.evanshondaspecialist.com is reputable.....i just sent them an email earlier to get a price quote......plus.......what mods would easily and cheaply(is that a word??) put me at 200HP or more maybe??

Thanks

Hey, I'm no expert on this so if anyone notices any mistakes plz correct me. First of all, the B16A1 is a 160 HP 111 lbs Torque DOHC VTEC engine that is easily swapped into a CRX with just a mount kit. Cost for B16A1: around $1600 for complete swap (w/o installation). The B16A2 is a 170 HP 113 lbs Torque DOHC VTEC engine also. The difference is that this engine costs $2600 and doesn't fit into a CRX as easily, so intallation will be harder and more expensive. I believe the B16A2 is more for Del Sol's, but I'm not positive on this. Everything else I've told you is true as far as I know; as for which one is better for your CRX, that would definitley be the B16A1. :frog:

cool............usually how much is an installation and is the price and everything they do at www.evanshondaspecialist.com worth it?

Installation can run anwhere from $600 to over a grand depending on who you take it to. Of course, these prices all depend on where u live and who u know, a professional would probably be a $1000. So if I were you I would probably go with www.evanshondaspecialist.com, unless you know someone personally who would do it for cheap. :frog:

I've heard that a complete b16 swap done by a shop costs between $2500-3200 that's including the price of the motor and other parts.

To answer your 200hp question, the only cheap and quick way to get 200hp is to go with nitrous, but nitrous isn't the best way. I suggest using a turbo, it's much more expensive, but it's safter and more dependable if done right.

Yup, that's about what I'm paying. I'm also getting a 6000 mile warranty, which is pretty rare from what I hear...

Also, I had to wait FOUR MONTHS for the engine to get here from Japan. But we ordered an entire front-end clip. Probably easier to get the engine without the clip....

One more thing to add is that a B16a is pre OBD then the B16A2 is OBD-1 that is a big factor also.

Another difference, the B16a2 is used in conjuntion with a HYDRO clutch setup as where your b16a1s use a cable setup. I also know that the second gen b16 has avalible Limited slip in their trannys. my friend has it in his and it is niiiiiiice.

yeah my friend just swapped in a b16a2 w/ an lsd tranny in his 92 sedan. its cool. 2 burnout lines rock compared to just one. but only thing that sucks is that you cant scratch as good. but his car pulls. but he got a auto ecu so revlimiter is like at 7400. i didnt know that and he let me drive so i was gonna take it all the up to 8000 but anyways i started flying it then at 7400 revlimiter kicked in, which i think its cool when a b16 hits rev limiter, then he told me he had an auto ecu. but it was overall cool to rev a car that high and go that fast.

idk i love the sound of high reving motors. every person has there thing though. oh i never got a drive a fast car before. the only other fast car i got to drive was my friends 97 prelude, the same friend with the b16 civic, he got 2 fast cars, but i never got to drive a b16 car so i think its cool. i really really love to race
