center (carrier) bearingCanadianRanger 01-05-2006, 11:54 PM I was under my 1994 3.2l 4x4 replacing the muffler, and i noticed that i can take the drive shaft and shake it side to side at the carrier bearing. Should i be able to do this or should it be stiff or immovable? Cat Fuzz 01-06-2006, 09:06 AM In my experience, thats ok as long as the rubber surrounding the bearing is not damaged. The movement allows for vibration dampening and noise suppresion. CanadianRanger 01-06-2006, 05:37 PM perfect thats what i was hoping, the rubber seems to be good, no cracks or rips. thanks, dave. 94twacker 01-08-2006, 07:06 PM mine is bad I am going to replace it tomorrow, I really dont have any bearing left, its just the rubber boot and the driveshaft is flopping all around. Hopefully its not going to be too tough, anyone ever done this? Rich P 01-21-2006, 07:51 AM I changed the one on my '94 in summer of '04.[was my son's at the time]. You'll know when it's bad. Sounds like there's a little guy under the truck beating on the floor with a rubber mallet. Rich P vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
