It could be in the transfer case. Is yours all wheel drive, or can you get 2wd mode?

Does the steering wheel have excess play? You could have loose or even binding tie rod ends, ball joints, or even a binding steering stabilizer shock. (The horizontally mounted one)

my mistake it is an all wheel drive you get only 4 wheel hi or 4 wheel low.

everything else in the front end checks out ok with the possiable exception of berings (according to the dealer) when we picked the car up he said everything was fine in the front end except that the berings where starting to wear and the steering box was fine.. i took out some of the play in the box and it seemed to help quite a bit. just dont quite understand how the transfer case would make the car feel loose and nervious driving down the road and oversteer then understeer in the corners.. thanks
