I recently purchased a 2004 WRX. The previous owner installed down pipes and full exhaust on the car.

Any reccommendations on an intake, if any at all? I've heard that certain intakes will cause a fault with an O2 sensor.

Also, in relation to water splash, is the in fender or under the hood type better?

What i've heard from is that the stock intake is really efficient until about 300 hp. Thank after that you should upgrade to a SRI. CAI's are bad for the WRX because of increased spool time. If you want the noise yah get the CAI, but it's not worth the money.

In relation to water. As long as you are not driving through 12 inch puddles you'll be fine. I had a CAI is my old car and i was driving though heavy storms without a problem.

i was told the stock box is good for 450 hp, just get a K&N drop in and call it aday :thumbsup:

only if you replace your uppipe, because stock wrx uppipes have a cat in them. just replacing the intake is not gonna cause a fault with O2 sensor. If you remove any cats on your stock wrx, you'll get an engine light, the code would say catalitic inefficiency, it's nothing to worry about. If the check engine light annoys you, you can buy a small resistor for like $5 and wire it to the oxigen sensor right before your muffler. However, if you're not getting a check egine light already, chances are the previous owner took care of the O2 sensor when he replaced the exhaust.

intakes dont mess up the o2 sensor, they mess up the MAF sensor and cause the engine to run lean....in turn fucking up your engine. If you wanna be a cool ricer, or want to put in the money to build a set up that will actually benifit from a CAI, get it, if youre going to do light modding, or keeping the current mods, keep the stock intake. And search

well the stock intake is good for 350hp. just get a perrin drop in or K&n and that will take care of the problem. As far as water splash unless your driving through lakes/rivers or deep puddles you have nothing to worry about.

do not use CAIs they will do you no good the next mod that will would give you the most for your money would be the uppipe and a good ECU tune I would suggest the cobbtuning acessport if you want some good Scooby info check the scooby sites like I-club or nasioc lots of good info

I had a 2003 WRX. I installed an AEM Cold air intake. Butt dyno said maybe no hp and a decent sound. Just do a K&N drop in filter in the stock intake and leave it alone.
