Sinister black GTOZoomZoomMX-5 01-03-2006, 10:32 PM Anyone remember this? http://images9.fotki.com/v179/photos/1/10258/17860/DSCN6522-vi.jpg I took it apart and used the guts to make a new one that was prepainted black-I may finish up the red one again some day, though I really want to make the GTO Judge widebody showcar at some point too. I wanted to make an '05 so I also took the fascias, exhaust, and hood from one of the purple '05 "drift" cars (the undecorated one) and painted them w/TS black. Added some Blitz BRW rims painted black and am fairly happy w/the result for such a mindless and easy kit to work on while I still tear my hair out on my custom Scaglietti (hood problems neverending-have to start a new one now) and a '74 Porsche IROC car and another GT3 w/some retro touches. http://images15.fotki.com/v259/photos/1/10258/17860/DSCN6987-vi.jpg http://images12.fotki.com/v251/photos/1/10258/17860/DSCN6992-vi.jpg http://images14.fotki.com/v248/photos/1/10258/17860/DSCN6991-vi.jpg http://images14.fotki.com/v249/photos/1/10258/17860/DSCN6989-vi.jpg http://images15.fotki.com/v259/photos/1/10258/17860/DSCN6988-vi.jpg digitalbanzai 01-03-2006, 10:40 PM Wow cool, where can I find that model? Hawk312 01-03-2006, 10:58 PM That is awesome!!! I love it in black! Okiemodelbuilder 01-03-2006, 11:14 PM Very sinister indeed!!! :evillol: willimo 01-03-2006, 11:17 PM Bitchin'! The Lambo rims were a bit more modern, and the BRWs kinda give it a Mustang look, but despite that, you've made a badass piece of American muscle. The taillights look incredible! Great work. D_LaMz 01-04-2006, 12:03 AM Looks great but I thought you were talking about the Ferrari GTO! quadzero 01-04-2006, 12:37 AM wow, what a beauty. super clean work! Digitor 01-04-2006, 01:40 AM That's a nice GTO. I love the black rims!:sunglasse What company makes that kit? By the "GTO Judge widebody show car" are you referring to this? http://forums.autoweek.com/servlet/JiveServlet/download/31-18866-413517-15258/2005%20Pontiac%20GTO%20Ram%20Air%206.JPG If so, that would be a very hot project! auw12 01-04-2006, 04:27 AM Looks great but I thought you were talking about the Ferrari GTO! me to.. digitalbanzai 01-04-2006, 04:30 AM I was expecting a 60's GTO. :P ZoomZoomMX-5 01-04-2006, 08:38 AM Thanks for the comments; it's a Polar Lights kit that's pretty easy to find in the US and will be reboxed by AMT sometime soon as well. It's a full-detail snap kit. I've gotten one as a freebie an three of them from Hobby Lobby during their 1/2 off sales, a whopping $24 for all four of them :grinyes: Sorry that it wasn't that '60's GTO :evillol: If I build one of those it won't be black. That orange car from Digitor is the one I'm going to build someday. Ever since I saw that concept and had the kit, I've been wanting to build it. Oh, and the one below stays just like it is-it's the pseudo-drift car that I built to look a bit more like an autocrosser-I've had a lot of fun w/these mindless/simple kits that I haven't had to paint: http://images12.fotki.com/v200/photos/1/10258/17860/DSCN6730-vi.jpg 73superduty 01-04-2006, 09:17 AM Bob, once again, you, have made it look "right". Beautiful job! How in the hell did you get the body to shine? I thought mine shined nice, but your's simply glows, shines and eminates! Chris lumpulus 01-04-2006, 09:34 AM Damn, thought the threadstarter was doing a Ferrari GTO. winstona 01-04-2006, 12:01 PM Bob, once again, you, have made it look "right". Beautiful job! How in the hell did you get the body to shine? I have their Ford GT kit. I also want to know how you make it look so good. Is it as simple as just a couple shots of clearcoats? Winston ZoomZoomMX-5 01-04-2006, 12:13 PM I have their Ford GT kit. I also want to know how you make it look so good. Is it as simple as just a couple shots of clearcoats? Winston Clearcoat? :grinno: Nope, all I did was buy one with the best paint...actually most of them have pretty good paint and they buff out well w/some compound. No clearcoat and very little polishing...I also make sure my photo lighting shows off the highlights well. The black hood/fascias that I painted are un-clearcoated Tamiya TS black simply polished out w/Scratch-X. Matched the factory black quite well...though of course the Tamiya black is a bit "blacker" than the Polar Lights prepaint color. Cobra Colors 01-04-2006, 03:40 PM Not that it didn't look good before, but now it's so much more striking and a nice improvement all around. blubaja 01-04-2006, 07:25 PM Sinister Bob? Looks awsome sure. Sinister would be a 500hp, new ZO6 powered tire destroyer:devil: Keep up the great work man! youngdrifter_x 01-04-2006, 09:27 PM wow!! thats nice build good job vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
