Yes, you need to go to a mechanic / garage that has the "special tool" to reset your service light. It won't hurt the car not to have it reset, as long as you keep track of your mileage from oil change to oil change. Metizzle. Misha1973 01-15-2006, 06:40 PM You can buy a DTC code reader (for $150 at bavauto.com or cheaper on Ebay). That will not only reset the oil change interval, but will read in any fault code that will let you diagnose any engine or electrical problem.
