'06 Boss MustangWhumbachumba 01-02-2006, 04:03 PM I'm taking the normal 06 Mustang by Revell and giving it the styling of a Boss 429 Mustang. I have filled the rear quarter windows, leveled off the front bumper, and designed and created the hood scoop. I still have to refine the sanding so the putty blends into the body. I'm thinking of using my TE-37's instead of the "wonderful" Revell rims. http://img268.imageshack.us/img268/861/10ef.jpg http://img245.imageshack.us/img245/5826/26jg.jpg http://img263.imageshack.us/img263/8634/34dv.jpg http://img245.imageshack.us/img245/9747/45yv.jpg http://img245.imageshack.us/img245/1096/52uv.jpg http://img245.imageshack.us/img245/3010/69nq.jpg http://img245.imageshack.us/img245/4803/78dq.jpg http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/7383/81cu.jpg http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/1415/93uz.jpg Myx_85 01-02-2006, 04:07 PM Very good idea, keep going, and make a wonderful muscle!! G-man422 01-02-2006, 04:09 PM cant wait to see finished product! redstang423 01-02-2006, 04:12 PM great start, you thinking of doing side or c-pillar scoops? Whumbachumba 01-02-2006, 04:15 PM Thanks for the comments. I won't do the scoops because my skill isn't high enough for that level of detail. I also think it looks cleaner without them on the classic Boss'. Still need to either fabricate the spoiler on the front bumper or go buy the Revell Boss Mustang kit and steal it from that. Myx_85 01-02-2006, 04:20 PM Side or C scoop? I think this is not good for this! Whumbachumba 01-02-2006, 04:29 PM Side or C scoop? I think this is not good for this! C-pillar is the rear quarter windows. The side scoops would be below that on the body. I believe they are used to cool the rear brakes. http://www.mustangsmustangs.net/ford/stangpics/readers/69_Boss429_2.jpg Myx_85 01-02-2006, 04:39 PM C-pillar is the rear quarter windows. I love that hood scoop digitalbanzai 01-02-2006, 10:56 PM Wow, that looks mean! Whumbachumba 01-02-2006, 11:01 PM Thanks for the comments. This adventure with putty is going much better than the WRX I made. I'm still trying to decide on color. I was thinking black, but gunmetal also would look good. Then there is light blue or dark red. Too many options. Myx_85 01-03-2006, 09:01 AM yeah, the 69's didn't come stock with c-pillar scoops, but isn't/wasn't uncommon to see them added on like the 69 mach 1 has. the 1970's were clear of all scoops aside from the hood scoop. as it is, it will look very good like you have it so far. i personally think the car looks cleaner in the 70's version, but the 69s look more muscular. Absolutely... Myx_85 01-03-2006, 09:06 AM Red, or blue, i think... maybe Red!!!! SchuberT 01-03-2006, 09:23 AM The first set of rims look MEAN on this build. Whumbachumba 01-03-2006, 07:55 PM I went and picked up the Revell Boss Mustang kit tonight. So, I should have some updates on it. I cut open a hole in the hood so the scoop is funtional. Waiting for the putty to cure, then I can do some more, and hopefully final, sanding. Whumbachumba 01-03-2006, 08:45 PM A quick look at what it will be with the front spoiler. At the current height, it is 1millimeter from the ground. http://img266.imageshack.us/img266/4674/103xo.jpg http://img266.imageshack.us/img266/9424/118ps.jpg http://img266.imageshack.us/img266/2194/125hx.jpg http://img448.imageshack.us/img448/5282/135kv.jpg Dean23 01-03-2006, 08:47 PM wow thats low. with the chin spoiler that low it will pick up road kill and fling it clear over the car....lol. Keep up the good work. i cant wait to see the rest of the mods you are going to do Whumbachumba 01-03-2006, 08:49 PM Yea, I did a little math and it ends up that it would be less than 1 inch from the ground. Now that is low. digitalbanzai 01-03-2006, 08:53 PM Wish I would have seen this earlier, I could have sent you Boss spoilers, I found a kit box from years ago in the old bedroom, had three Mustang kits from probably sometime around 1997. One was the Boss 302. Whumbachumba 01-03-2006, 09:11 PM Wonderful. Revell left out a whole damn sprue in the Boss Mustang kit. It's the one with the mirror housings, air cleaner, and spoiler supports. I kindof need these to complete both models. If anybody has a list of part numbers on this sprue, please let me know. I despratly need them. Whumbachumba 01-04-2006, 02:51 PM I am a complete idiot. Revell did not leave out the sprue, but it was hidden on my desk. So, now I can complete both kits with ease. The body is coming along, finished up sanding for now, I hope. I have to install the front and rear spoiler and then putty on the front spoiler. A bit more sanding. Then hopefully it will be ready for paint. WasteGas 01-04-2006, 03:05 PM wow thats low. with the chin spoiler that low it will pick up road kill and fling it clear over the car....lol. Keep up the good work. i cant wait to see the rest of the mods you are going to do :lol2: Keep up the good work! Can't wait to see the results. Whumbachumba 01-04-2006, 03:40 PM Put on the spoiler for the other Boss Mustang kit and the front spoiler is put on too. The front spoiler should be sitting higher one the suspension is installed. http://img413.imageshack.us/img413/4608/148wu.jpg http://img413.imageshack.us/img413/2717/154ey.jpg http://img413.imageshack.us/img413/5592/166ft.jpg Whumbachumba 01-06-2006, 06:10 PM Painted it Bright Orange, but it looks like it will need a bath to clean the paint off. It's too dark and not uniform. Apparently gray primer is not a good base coat for bright orange. >_< We'll see how the second coat goes and decide from there. Samurai75007 01-06-2006, 10:15 PM Wow that's lookin good... vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
