S Indicator Blinkingampao64 01-01-2006, 09:05 PM What does the S mean on the dash when it's blinking? My 91 Honda Accord has never been modified, it has 67k miles on it. So I don't really think its the engine or something. I just want to know what the S indicator means when it's blinking. What does the S stand for? Thanks for your time mpumas 01-02-2006, 01:04 AM This has been covered on this site many times. The S button when depressed changes the shift pattern by keeping it in a lower gear for a longer time. A flashing S light can mean a bad speed sensor which is the thing that drives the speedometer and also affects the cruise control. Or it could mean a Transmission control module problem. Do you have any other changes in the way the car operates? ampao64 01-02-2006, 01:41 AM This has been covered on this site many times. Do you have any other changes in the way the car operates? I notice a bit of slippage, when I try to accelerate. It feels like no matter how i step on the gas, it doesn't accelerate as fast. But that's only on the first gear (i think, cause its an automatic Trans) mpumas 01-02-2006, 01:42 PM Is your speedometer working properly, how about cruise control? ampao64 01-03-2006, 08:33 AM Is your speedometer working properly, how about cruise control? Cruise Control was kind of not working... Although the S symbol has stopped blinking.... mpumas 01-03-2006, 12:24 PM Sounds like a bad speed sensor pulser. It is a sensor mounted to the transmission on the fire wall passenger side. Your speedometer will probably stop working soon. ampao64 01-03-2006, 12:30 PM Sounds like a bad speed sensor pulser. Thanks a lot... i'll have it looked at by a mechanic.... any idea what the price range is for having it replaced? (can i replace it myself?) How much is a sensor for a 91 accord? mpumas 01-04-2006, 02:02 AM Don' t know your mechanical ability but it is held in with two screws. Do a search on this web site for speed sensor and one post will refer you to a another site with detailed instructions and pictures. mpumas 01-04-2006, 02:14 AM Speed sensor about $75. plus 1 hour labor at the dealer. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
